I have counted no less than 10 separate 360 users complaining that they have problems when watching programming that is not live, and filmed rather than taped on channels that are presented in 720P (namely FOX-HD and ESPN-HD). This is an issue that is about to rear it's ugly head in a major way as more and more people find the problem as they tune into the channels that D* is adding. I'm not sure who is responsible, but something needs to be fixed here. If you have this unit and you are seeing the same problems, please post here and tell us your experiences. Also, please call D* so they know that this is not just an isolated issue.

TS360 owner having the same problem in both ESPN-HD and FOX-HD on D*. I receive the same FOX-HD OTA and the problem isn't there. It seems that either D*'s compression algorithm on 720p channels does not meet the TS360 ability to render or the TS360 satellite tuner is defective. I'm glad I'm able to receive FOX-HD OTA in the meantime but D* must fix this annoying problem for those who can't receive it OTA, as soon as possible.

I agree. I'm 60 miles outside of NY, with mountains surrounding me, no chance on ever getting anything OTA. I was so glad to see D* adding the nationals over the sat, and now this. I have a feeling that if ABC was online the bulk of their primetime lineup would be affected by this as well.

I called D* again this morning. Rep stated that they were not aware of this problem.

I'm praying that someone knowledgeable enough that works with D* read these boards and can offer some assistance.

Dealing with Level 1, while they try to be helpful, is very painful and I don't foresee solving the problem with them.

Add another to the list. I don't watch much ESPN, so this never bothered me too much (except during that Pete Rose movie). Now with FOX, I wanted to watch, but I couldn't! Even the commercials are messed up.

When will Directv address this?????

Add me to the list as well. T360 with jittery video and audion sync issues on ESPN-HD filmed programing and LA Fox HD feed with same type of programming.

We also have the same problems. We bought our box 1 week ago. They are still being sold. Matter of fact, it was the only box that we could buy. At least in our area.

Me too! Fox-HD on D* last night was Un-Watchable!

I'll be calling D* soon (just not sure how soon with all of the holiday activities coming up!).

Nice present - D* turns on Fox-HD and I can't watch it! Hope it gets cleared up by XMas.

I have a equipment maintenance contract on my h/w through D*. Think I can get them to swap out the 360?

I can resist anything, except temptation.

edit--moderator removed the contact info at samsung.

Any chance this has something to do with D*'s compression on those channels? Maybe it's not a 360 issue at all. Just speculating.

Same problem here. Don't know about Fox HD I always watch it OTA. Just to throw something else into this. I also have a Samsung 160 hooked up thru component to a Panny 34" that doesn't have the problem the 360 does with ESPN HD. But like PDPnNJ said it may be the 360 tuner but I thought the Samsung used the same tuner that was in the 160 in the 360.

I'm having the same problem on my TS360 but not on my RCA 210, it has to be a 360 problem. Of course when I called D* they said that I was the only one who had complained about this and told me to reboot my receiver. When I told them that I knew that many other people where having this problem and that rebooting would not help the CSR hung up on me.

Me too. Any filmed-stuff on ESPN-HD is completely unwatchable. The commercials between plays during football games are completely unwatchable also.

I wasn't aware that Fox Nationals were available now. I suppose KTVU is not allowing variances to anyone in the Bay Area?

I'm having a similiar problem on a Hughes HTL-HD. On ESPN-HD sunday night football, almost all season, I have had audio dropouts that seem to occur just after a live play and prior to the snap. It is odd that there is no issue during the actual live play of the NFL game. I did not have a single issue on this past Sat. night ESPN-HD football game, but yet again on Sunday night, the same audio dropouts.

Based on comments that "live" is very good and film is terrible, is D* compressing the heck out of non-live transmissions on ESPN HD to save bandwidth? Forgive my ignorance here as I am just preparing to go HD, but are those the only 2 channels at 720P? Is all other (HBO and Showtime specifically) broadcast at 1080i?

Right now, yes. Rumor is that they will add ABC-HD soon, which is also 720P. ESPN2-HD is slated to be on sometime around January 6th, which will be 720P as well. I don't think it's a compression issue, as the other HD's look fine. I don't think they'd be selectively compressing certain channels over others, especially in the middle of the week with no Sunday Ticket games on.

Hello all, Kind of new member. I had posted to the locals board but it has been awhile. Since then I final dumped Cox cable and got Directv back. I have a Samsung HCN5527w tv and just got a TS360 for the HD. The first thing I noticed was while playing around with the settings was that 480p/I looks better then Native1 or the 1080I setting for that matter. This seems kind of backward to me anyone else notice this as well? I am connected up via DVI and I must say I did not see much of a improvement over the composite inputs(Y,Pb,Pr hopefully I got that right) Anyway I to also noticed the problem with ESPN-hd during those movies, I did call in tonight and report it. Of course they blamed it on my dish being misaligned(I know it is not, my signal strength is all in the 90s and no bad weather was in the area during that time). I can not comment on the fox-hd issues as I am not eligible for any of the NY or LA HD feeds from Directv.

I flipped on Nanny 911 on FOX tonight and it's fine. Again, it only seems to be during film-based programs. Very strange.... However, earlier during Seinfeld the problem was very evident.

Could this be a Samsung problem recognizing the flag, or D* not transmitting it (flag).

I, too, am having problems with Fox HD (88) and ESPN HD (73) and I have a Sammy 360. It really wasn't that much of a problem on ESPN since the problem only popped up during commercials or during their movies. House last night was totally unwatchable with audio sync and flickering. I called support up tonight and they put me through the usual routine of checking signal strength, etc. I told him that many other members here are having the same issue. He then tried to sell me a new receiver and the protection plan. Oh well, maybe they will get this fixed but I won't bet on it. Everyone should call in if they are having problems so we can get this fixed. I think I might start a petition or something so D* can see the problem we're having.
