Look at a Syntax Olevia LCD. A 32" costs $899.

No ghosting = CRT at those sizes. Sony, Sampsung, and many others have HD CRT's around 30 inches that are below 900 bucks.

Not many things beat CRT in terms of color and response time.

$500-$800 for xbox 360
$900 for CRT HDTV
Throwing your back out while carrying the set upstairs and then only being able to play xbox 360 for 3 weeks while recovering: priceless

It is hard to beat a CRT when it comes to ghosting (or really lack thereof), but the best thing to do would be to try a xbox360 out on those sets your are interested in and see how they perform. I personally have no problem with my xbox and sony LCD. If I really want to find ghosting, I can, but in normal day to day use, it's not noticable to me (I mostly play sports, fighting, and racing games).

After seeing all the various current HD providers, I really, really miss Voom

Hmm... my wife is getting an X-box 360 also and I want to buy her a nice 40 inch LCD or Plasma. I'd be VERY open to any suggestions. Thanks.

You might also want to google for gaming LCDs/TVs and see what it comes up with. I think you are going to have to really test a set out to see if it is acceptable for your uses as all sets (crts, lcds, dlps) have pluses and minuses.
