WBFAir, I'd suggest one of These which also has the ability to record, with a USB drive. They've recently jumped up $10 but still for under $60 you'd be hard pressed to find anything decent cheaper.
If you think you'd gain anything with S-video, want a better EPG or need a VERY sensitive tuner then I'd suggest a CM-7000(I own 5) which is only available used and for inflated prices, it's AVS master thread is here.
I'd really suggest the iView(I own 2) and having the ability to record in HD(and output SD for your old TVs) is quite handy. It's impressive master AVS thread(regularly updated by Videobruce) is here.

I bought an antenna to get OTA

My TV has an digital audio output.

Will I be able to use the digital audio output to connect it to my receiver or will I only be able to listen to the TV speakers?

So far I'm only able to listen to the TV speakers.

What digital audio out formats (DD, PCM, etc.) does your TV put out? What digital audio formats will your receiver accept?

Yes. If you have a receiver that can accept an optical cable then you can listen to discrete 5.1 audio via OTA thru the tv's ATSC tuner if your receiver can decode 5.1 when broadcast.

Sometimes the HDTV only provides Digital Audio va a (SPDIF) RCA type Coax connector. If your AVR doesn't have Digital Audio RCA Coax input, you can get an inexpensive Coax-to-Coax Converter. In HDTV Audio Menus, there is probably a selection between PCM (Stereo) and Dolby Digital (DD5.1) output stream format.

Like the others have stated, if your AVR has a matching input to your TV's digital audio output you will be able to connect and get 5.1 audio. If your receiver does not have the appropriate digital input you can still get 2.0 audio through your receiver by connecting the RCA cables (red and white) from your TV to your receiver. Almost every TV and AVR has these RCA connections.

I'm not sure.  My TV is a Panasonic TC P50s30.

My amplifier is an HK 990.

I'm able to use the digital audio cable (optical) from the PS3 to the HK 990 but no sound from the TV to the HK 990

Try inquiring in the Display area appropriate for your set.

Walking the fine line between jaw-dropping and a plain ol' yawn.
