Sorry, I tried the search function but could not find this number. Does anyone know the phone number to access this department directly? Thanks.

There is one but you have to have a pin number that changes every so often. Unless you have an active pin they only way to get to them is thru the main D* number.

800-824-9081, assuming it hasn't changed in the last year or so. I've called directly with no PIN. Usually it rings straight through to a CSR.

i think they may have changed it. Must have been too many people calling directly just to get a human on the phone quickly

Try calling the usual D* number and when prompted by the voice response system, for the reason for your call, reply "cancel service". This will get you a human being, maybe in the retention department, or one that can transfer you there. Did this myself a few weeks ago. YMMV.

If that tactic would result in a quality, non-downrezzed image from D*, I'd be calling them every day, even though I'm not longer a subscriber. (I'd return to subscribership if they would return to quality signal.)

Worked for me today. I called and got the retention department. Told them I was unhappy with all of the charges to upgrade to HD-DVR and HD service. They gave me the HD-DVR lease free, 1 year DVR service free, and 1 year HD service free. Still had to pay for superfan with my NFL sunday ticket.
