Up for sale is my JVC RS40. I don't know what it's worth, to be honest, but I figure I'll start it at 1,000 and take offers.

As it sits right now, it works pretty good - not great. It still looks phenomenal, and will be available to see in person, as it's still hooked up and ready to be used.

The bad news is, the projector has a few issues with freezing when used with HDMI (which actually is a known issue with these projectors). After a random amount of hours (I've left it play for 12 hours, and it hasn't happened, but it's also happened within 4), it will flicker a little bit, and the menu will become unresponsive. It's remedied by cutting power to the unit, and giving it about 10-15 minutes to cool off naturally, and restarting it. (The suggested time is 10-15 minutes as to not stress the bulb, but I have been able to successfully get it going within 3-4 minutes on an older bulb)

This comes with two extra bulbs (one with 2 hours on it, and a brand new one currently in the mail). The bulb currently installed is around 1000-1100 hours, if I recall correctly. I was swapping out a few bulbs to try and remedy the flicker, and it actually WAS NOT messing up with the older bulb swapped in, at all, but I only ran it for about 2 hours after putting it back in, so I don't want to commit to it being a bulb issue yet.

I've already installed firmware version 1.8.

There's no warranty on this unit any longer. It comes with the box, and a ceiling mount, and the remote.

I'm also interested in trades, and don't be afraid to come back with an offer, the worst I could say is no. It's usually available for a demo every weekend or evenings. You can even bring your game system or your favorite blu ray over and give it a shot.

Please feel free to call or text me at 724-420-7785

UPDATE: I ran it for about 4 hours today watching a TV series, and it didn't hiccup at all.

By the way, please ignore the ghetto curtain job, that was the day after I moved in, and has since been done properly tongue.gif

by the way, don't hesitate to make me an offer on it, like i said i really don't know what to ask.

If you don't mind randomly resetting the unit after a few hours, then this can be a great deal for someone. I've always switched the outlet it was plugged into off when it wasn't in use.

It's my baby =(

To the top. Still available. I'm open to offers but not ones that would put me in a better position to have it repaired and sell it on eBay. Ie 150 shipped.

The bulbs alone are worth a few hundred dollars at least. You may do better selling them separate from the projector.

Quoted to prevent him from editing.

Buyer included this note in the PayPal payment:

Note to seller
Payment for JVC RS40 with HDMI issues. Includes projector, remote and 3 extra projector bulbs. No DOA

and is now claiming I didn't fully explain the lockup issues to him in the ad, and has opened a PayPal dispute

i suspect he is just trying to get it cheaper after the fact assuming i'd cave in.

Ad said that it did not lock up or have issues for at least 4 hours and as long as 12, but no, I get projector and it starts flickering EVERY time at about 1 1/2 hours.

Seller is shocked and said it never locked up that fast for me!

It needs to be fixed, he knew that when he sold it and so he dismissed the issue as not being as bad as it is.

I offered to split cost of repair but seller refuses.

He asked me to leave feedback right after I got the projector before I had a chance to fully test - NOW I KNOW WHY!!!

No I didn't. I said when you wanted to. We can either resolve this civilly or not. I'm not giving you 200 dollars, but I'd be willing to do 100 and end it today, only because you seemed like a very nice guy when I talked to you on the phone.

If you are able to get it fixed for 400, and I give you 100 towards it, you still get a pretty bad ass projector for about 1,000 dollars, with extra bulbs.

I'll do the $100 to get this settled, I know you did not say exactly 4 hours, but it should be able to last a movie without issue, you said it would be no problem to last a movie when I spoke with you.

Scott was trying to force me into paying him the 100 dollars before he closed the dispute. Here's what he had to say:

That's just not how this works, if you agree or are required to do a refund then that is done first, then the claim is cancelled or settled.

If you don't want to do the $100, then we will let PayPal determine the outcome.  Usually their decision is for the buyer to return the item for a full refund.

Sorry we could not work this out ourselves.

I had offered to do everything over the phone with him, that way I could send him the 100 after I saw the claim was closed. I was unsure of sending the money with the chance I'd get nothing out of it. I just wanted to expedite the claim process so I could either move on, or get the unit back and resell it.

Scott threw away a good, working, OEM bulb with 1,100 hours on it, and was somehow under the impression that it was worthless and wasn't an issue.

At any rate, I received an email today from PayPal telling me that the case was decided in my favor, just as I had anticipated. (buyer puts in payment notes that it has the lockup issue, then files a claim for the lockup issue, after I elaborately explained the situation on the phone, and he told me that he did his research on the unit and this problem.)

My assumption is that he thought I would just cave in, and give him the 200 dollars he initially requested, especially after being told:

Refund me $100 thru PayPal and I will drop the claim and maybe I can get it fixed for a little less.

If you don't want to do the $100, then we will let PayPal determine the outcome.  Usually their decision is for the buyer to return the item for a full refund.

I'm guessing he thought he could get it cheaper because I'm a nice guy.

The funny part is, I received the email from PayPal that the case was decided in my favor, and immediately emailed Scott directly and said:

Hey I just won that case, do you still want the 100 towards getting it fixed?

Which is definitely off the table after he tried slandering me. I have all emails saved from him as evidence of everything I've stated, and am willing to forward them to the administration of this forum.

I truly believe he had every intention of offering me what I would agree on, and then trying to get more money off after the fact.

Since I suspect he simply wanted to get the unit cheaper, I suggested he gets the unit repaired, sends me the invoice for the repair, and when I am sure he's not just trying to get it cheaper, i'd give him some money, and he replied:

Yea, I kind of knew that your email was just a trap so you could vent about the whole thing.  Yea, yea, you won the resolution and got away with selling me a projector that doesn't work as you say it would, go ahead be proud of your jackass self!!

I will continue to slander your ass as long as I can, the truth hurts, don't it!

Try to avoid dealing with this guy. I've sold countless car and computer parts on various forums, and never once have I had an issue with someone like this.

Yea, this guy will argue with you till he's blue in the face. He will tell you whatever you want to hear and then lie to you and change his mind.

I've had many pleasant transactions here and on EBay, I have over 1200 feedbacks, 100% positive.

Maybe this guy is alright, who knows, but I think he sucks and MY recommendation is to steer clear of any transaction with him.

BUYER BEWARE

Yep, the projector died today, shock, shock.

Took it to Mendtronix in Atlanta, bad power board (which you knew all along).

$595 to fix.

I only got 80 hours out if this projector and that's with putting up with some flickering and freezing issues.

Bad deal all around.

If I knew it was the power board all along, I legit would have spent the 160 dollars to buy a power board and put it in. It looks to be very easy to do.

http://www.pacparts.com/part.cfm?par...6500U9&mfg=JVC

http://www.partsimple.com/pc0106500u9-jvc-n-13.html has it for 120.

http://cceparts.com/productdetail.asp?a={9C92DFFE-9F1C-4261-93AC-9511C54C2F67}&PartNumberKey=JVPC0106500U9

that definitely would have saved me a good amount of money.

Now that it's been officially diagnosed, are you interested in selling it back to me?

I'm not a projector fix it expert, so even if the power boards you mention are the same I could not swap it out. It might be other small things to, they did not detail all the parts needed.

I think I'm just going to sell it for parts.
