Thank you, that was what I was trying to say!

Do either of these cards permit the audio to be sent out HDMI without routing the video throught the sound card?

I need this since my preamp does not accept HDMI at the native resolution of my display.

I don't know the answer ... if impossible, a workaround could be this (I don't know if it really works):

- DVI/HDMI out 1 of GPU: connected to the display
- DVI/HDMI out 2 of GPU: connected to the sound card

Use DualView or Extended Desktop mode. Set Display 1 (your display) as primary and its resolution to the desired one, and set Display 2 (your preamp) as secondary and its resolution to, say, 800x600.

GPU will send the second half of the desktop (a blank wallpaper) to the preamp (muxed with audio) that you will never use for your work.

Definately sounds worth a go, good thinking

It sends a blank video signal if video is not connected to the card. No need to route video through.

My guess either card will function as any other sound card up to the lossless. Then TMT/PDVD will be neccessary via the hdmi for bitstream. The X-Fi mentions it will accept internal bitstream via Nvidia. I think the PVAP-protected video/audio path is too close to be separated. Hope I'm wrong, but gut feeling. I want discrete video too.

Great. Now I know I have a solution for sure.

This might lead to lip sync issues.

It looks like the ETA is now late August, at least according to an e-mail I received literally moments ago. Dolby TrueHD bitstreaming is apparently not yet ready. Too bad.

Well, assuming that Auzen doesn't get delayed with theirs, maybe I just won't jump on the first one released.

Thanks for those, I wonder how long until Arcsoft release the Bitstream patch and whether the bundled version of TMT is unique or whether PAP will be enabled on exiting versions via the patch?

That is good news that it has been released somewhere. I was told that it would not be released until the end of August. Perhaps they are holding off for release in the US until the bitstreaming issue is sorted out.

The HDMI version release on their website ....

http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?mo...=150&l3=0&l4=0

Support HDMI version 1.3 with two HDMI ports (1 input and 1 output)

So .. now just see which is better Asus HDAV1.3 or upcoming Auzentech Auzen X-Fi HomeTheater 7.1....

Me keenly waiting ...

Looks like it. According to the TW link above, it seems it is NT 6200 for the deluxe model and 5500 without the daughter card. Which translates to US $200 approx for the deluxe. Also they say Mid August official release though that may be just TW where asus is HQ'd at? The end of aug for a US timeline sounds about right.

Isn't it crazy this card needs a power supply? They're saying it's because of the video processsing it does. Now video cards do use a direct power supply so this somewhat explains it. But still how much processing is it doing that it needs that much juice? Splendid should be called Power Hungry.

Apparently it's 4:50 am in Taiwain so the guy who wrote the article may be sleeping. probably will be several more hours before he wakes up and writes something else.

I can't wait!!

from the forum .. I read that so far using Arcsoft TMT is much better than powerdvd.

"目前看來還是要搭配ArcSoft TotalMedia Extreme的播放程式

但是聽說v1.0.6.23版本支援硬碟播放,而且音效評比POWERDVD好"

For the powersupply .. since it also multiplexing the video signal and audio single into a single HDMI output. Thus, require the external power supply ..

mm .. I wonder if Auzentech requires???

I've got a question to this soundcard..

Do you think, that it will solve the problem of microshutters? So that you won't need ReClock anymore to achieve perfectly smooth playback?

It would be possible, since the card muxxes Audio and Video by itsself, wouldn't it?

Thanks for any comments on this..

Bye,
Passi

As for the True HD support, nothing yet.

Rather than resurrect this old thread, use that one instead:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1051438

It has a guy from Taiwan in it (specifically, myAV) who has been testing the card for ASUS for some time now.
