I have the asus G35 hdmi motherboard and q4400 and have had some issues with the tv tuner so I am doing a full re-install of Vista...

I really only use MCE (along with PowerDVD for bluray/hddvd with Mymovies), and I've always just thrown in as many codec packs as it takes to get everything working. (vista codec pack, CCCP, etc) Is there a better way? Ffdshow, even with the tutorial, kind of confuses me. I want everything to look its best in mce.

Hope my question isn't too basic. Thanks for any help in advance.

I followed Chris L's directions here and was setup with ffdshow in about 5 minutes.

I've only tried a few codecs so far, but mkv, DTS, AC3, and x264 work fine.

How good could it be if it isn't HD?

Thank you, you very much. That was what I was looking for. Don't know how I missed it, considering I use Chris L's tips for every other problem.
