I know many have been fretting over the digital switchover coming next year.

In threads that ask questions about the switch over it's usually made clear that the switch over affects broadcast only, but almost invariably there are warnings that most cable systems will switch over to digital very soon too.

Well . . . I'm in the process of building an HTPC and when I called our cable company (Charter) to ask about this they said they have no plans to switch to all digital in the forseeable future.

Today I just got my Charter Connect Newsletter and they had a link for info about the digital change over and they are again stating that the digital transition will have no immediate effect on their subscribers. In fact they seem to be using their continuance of analog as a marketing tool (even mentioning that in most cases you don't need a set top converter).

Just thought it was worth mentioning as I know it had me concerned for a bit too.

Multichannel News has an article that has a Q&A with Charter's CTO. In the Q&A the CTO answers questions regarding the addition of more HD and the plans for SDV: http://www.multichannel.com/article/CA6600464.html .
