I've seen some MCE remotes (Thermaltake and Zalman HTPC case included remotes) that seem to have a dpad that does more than go up/down, left/right. Does anyone know if these or other MCE remotes have the capability of controlling a mouse pointer? I don't want to have to grab a real mouse, or shell out a bunch of money for a gyration mouse in addition to a good universal MCE remote.

Any suggestions for something that is primarily a universal remote, but can also control a mouse pointer?

Not sure if this interests you but, A Dell remote can be had for 15 bucks on ebay and has the gyration technology.

I just bought one and even though it was considered used, it looked brand new. you will also need to purchase the dongle from dell. an image of the remote is below.

All the info to build it is in this thread.

remote $15.00
dongle $10.99
