Must be a (graphic) driver problem.

THe flickering issue is a driver problem, I'm trying to workaround it by creating a custom resolution of 59hz. Or at the very least, change it so that way my native resolution is at 4k and not 1080p. But I can't even do simple resolutions such as 4k at 30hz.

Have you already tried with just one card by disabling SLI?

I did a quick search through the thread and OP but couldn't find what I was looking for. This question must have come up before, so I apologize if its already been answered.

Is there a list or easy way to find devices that emulate a display's EDID?

I discovered the Dr HDMI device from HD Fury from an AVS ad, which appears to emulate a specific display's EDID and constantly broadcast it to the source (so that it appears the display is always there and "on"). Its $100 and also has a number of other features which I don't need and I'm trying to determine if there are cheaper devices or alternatives, especially since I don't know whether any of them introduce any issues (such as delays). Heck, is there a correct label for these kinds of devices? (i.e. EDID emulator? EDID Sink? EDID Repeater? etc.)

I think I have a similar but opposite problem of many people in this thread.

I have nvidia GTX 970->Onkyo TX-SR607->Panasonic TX-P60S030.

I can bit stream all encoded formats just fine. However, when I do a windows speaker test for my 5.1, my rear and front speakers play through the front. Same thing appears to happening during video games as well. Watching movies everything is fine.

I notice that the supported formats list does not list any type of PCM. Shouldn't 8 channel PCM be listed there like is listed in the EDID?

Is this possibly EDID related?

This may be a silly check, but did you check your Onkyo's sound program is "Straight" (or whatever the pass-through option is labelled). The only thing I can think of is that its applying a sound program to a plain PCM signal (but not to an encoded stream).

Onkyo TX-SR507/er-1401

Hi,

I'm trying to get HD audio passed through to my Onkyo TX-SR507 from my HTPC, which is an e-machines er1401. The er1401 has an Nvidia 9200 chipset and the latest drivers are installed. On the Windows (10) sound settings, I have 8 channels shown as supported by only Dolby Digital listed as audio formats, although DTS does work (in Kodi).

I attempted an edid overide but noticed no change, except the generic monitor was recognised as my AV receiver. Not sure if I had done this right though, I used moninfo and clicked 'create inf'.

Any advice if HD passthrough will work on my set-up or whether I am creating the inf correctly would be appreciated.

Cheers

Hi there, first time here. My investigation led me here so I might be wrong on my assumptions, but thanks in advance for the help.

My setup is as follows:

PC with NVidia card outputing through HDMI --> HDMI splitter (as far as I can tell compressed and uncompressed audio capable, it is a Portta v1.3 Mini 1X2 HDMI Amplifier Splitter Support 3D) --> Onkyo Reciever (TX-NR414)

However, my PC is only letting me configure the audio output for stereo. It does not detect the splitter as a multichannel output. If I have understood correctly, I could create a new EDID for this monitor (the splitter), by joining my onkyo EDID and the splitter EDID?

I am attaching the info I got from moninfo.

Thanks a lot!

Do you know if something like this could be done with a headset? I have a 7.1 headset but windows only detects it as stereo. It connects through usb. Is there something similar to EDID override for that kind of hardware?

Thanks again!

Hi All, Im having an issue getting DTS, DTS-MA etc DD AC3 all work fine.
Im Using GeForce GT-430 ->Onkyo HT-R380 -> Sony KDL-46V4000

Im guessing this is an EDID issue as windows 8.1 shows max channels as 6 and not 8.... Speaker setup is 5.1

here is my moninfo..
Any help at all would be much appreciated.
thanks

All is fine according to the captures. Number of channels is OK since the AVR is limited to 5.1. Problem should be in the player setup (or filters).

Thanks for the reply Tulli.
when im playing DTS audio or even DTS-MA i just get PCM (No DTS lights up). AC3 5.1 gives me DD indicator on the onkyo.

reading the troubleshooting on kodi it says that you dont get DTS if the max channels are at least 8. Do you thing that this is something that is fixable?

If that is the case try the attached EDID override.

Thanks for that Tulli,
I figured it out in the end. It was a Kodi audio setting Issue.
The full audio settings were hidden and When I figured out how to enable the "Advanced" audio options the DTS capable receiver was Disabled. Enabling this sorted the issue.

Thanks again for your help.

Hello

I'm stuck with my setup.
[Laptop] < hdmi > [hdmi arc adapter] < hdmi arc > [Samsung H6400 TV]
_____________________+Optical out] > toslink > [Yamaha RX-V2095]

While adapter does work and passes 2.0 audio out, i see only 2 channel setup in windows and in tv setup i can only select pcm sound. (dts/DD is greyed out).
Is adapter edid conflicting? (adapter specs contains: Support ARC audio output format (Relate with display devices):LPCM2.0/DTS/Dolby-AC3)

I tried to edit edid in windows by adding supported formats and channels, but override didnt work (probably i did something wrong).

What is the graphic adapter of your laptop? Note that EDID overrides don't work with Intel IGPs.

I should have been more clear. AFAIK EDID overrides won't work on Intel-based laptops anyway.

MSI GTX 960 with Windows 7 and 8.1

I created an EDID override file and it seemed to install fine in windows 7 and 8.1 with an MSI GTX 960 video card. I have a Denon 7200wa AVR and a Sony 940C TV. When I was using the PC's Intel integrated HD3000 graphics, I didn't need the override file to obtain 7 sampling rates. But when I installed the GTX card, the number of sampling rates dropped to 4.

The override file did not affect what is shown in the 'Windows Sound Manager'. Is that normal?

Is it likely that all the Nvidia GTX 960 video cards would show just the four sampling rate formats?

Thanks.

Not normal at all. Check cables or connectors.

Thank you Tulli. Cables I am using are short and secure. I am able to do 4K and 3d at 1080p with the video card. And I can do 3D at 1080p with the Integrated Intel HD3000 graphics. No stutters or bad stuff. I just bought the video card, so I can take it back and exchange it for another brand to see what happens.

Does the 'Windows Sound manager' window reflect the changes the override file makes or does it still display the original sound capabilities of the AVR and TV ? The reason I ask is that the original values are still there in both Windows 7 and 8.1. And in both Device Managers, the 'override' driver is shown.

Thank you for your hard work with this project.

Like you say the audio properties for the HDMI audio device should reflect the EDID override specifications.
