Is this the right place to ask for override help?
I have an TCL-42inch TV (I think it's like an LG) connected to a Onkyo-TX-SR606. But here's the kicker...The HDMI is split between the Onkyo and an Acer H236HL. So they are sharing the same HDMI output and EDID. It is working currently. I already have an Overridden EDID from a long time ago. But it doesn't work perfectly. I'm wondering, if it could be perfected.

Currently it is seen as the TX-SR606.. I do this, because I want it to see the Multi-Channel outputs. It claims it is HDCP compliant, but there some WMC programs that it has some issues with.

There's another GenericPnP driver listed. Perhaps the override has been applied to the wrong monitor.
Your still saying this, after all this years? This is not correct! HDMI is capable of all audio. Get yourself a new AVR and/or computer. Uncompressed PCM audio can be up to 8-channels. I've seen, heard, and watched it. The AVR should be set to the setting 'MULTICH' to receive PCM data in 16/24bits.

A Television and/monitor itself is usually limited to two channels, and thus we need a EDID override for assistence. The HDMI receiver/AVR has no such limits.

What is not correct in the remark you quote? It refers to a "TV HDMI link", which as you say, "is limited to two channels (LPCM)", hence requiring an EDID override to allow multichannel compressed audio.

Unless new TV models have changed this, they don't allow full 8-LPCM passthrough, but only 2-LPCM (uncompressed audio) or multichannel compressed audio (DD, DTS). NO Edid override can fix this. This is a specific limitation of TVs and home theater systems with their HDMI-in port.

As per your questiom, if the problem is WMC-related it can't be fixed with an EDID override.

Would anybody hook up the TV before the AVR in an install? Why?

WMC issues... Yes, your right here. I'll prolly upgrade to 10 soon, and use something completely different. I do have some love for WMC though. Wish Microsoft still supported it.

See post #3419 related to the post you quoted disregarding the problem I was helping to fix. This is by the original poster of the problem:

"I don't have an AVR. I'm trying to do HTPC -> [HDMI] -> TV -> [S/PDIF] 5.1 sound bar"

Just check both EDID Override threads. There are countless posts with a similar connection with NO AVR in the chain.

Hi, I have a setup with Sony 40D3500 screen and a low level LG home theater without HDMI in, but with SPDIF in and a cheaper HDMI-to-SPDIF converter/extractor from ebay.

My source is a Lenovo SL410 notebook with realtek/ATI HDMI output.

I didn't read the whole thread, but as I came to understand from what I read, I should be able to get the 5.1 signal through with using the edid driver I found here
for a Sony 46D3500 with a Sony AVR. I downloaded and installed the driver. I needed a few restart, because the system kept automatically rolling back to Generic PNP monitor, but after the 3rd or 4th install-restart combos it stopped. Now if I check playback devices, I can see the device is capable of 8 channels, but when I do the test in the Playback devices Configure menu, only the front left and right speakers give out sound. No rear speakers, no center, no sub.
I experience the same when tryin a DD5.1 movie.

I tested the switch with a different setup, it is capable extracting 5.1 audio. I also tested the home theater, it is capable of 5.1.

Any advice?
Thanks

Check this and the other EDID override thread (see my sig.). It's been already thoroughly discussed. Windows test tones use uncompressed audio (LPCM), which can be at best 2 channels with the bandwidth available over the HDMI link through the TV. OTOH multichannel is possible only with compressed audio (DD or DTS). Bottom-line: stream DD or DTS audio from the application and it will work. For games audio must be live-encoded to AC3 to DTS (there's a hack for Realttek drivers - search for link in the threads).

I have a win8->AVR->Panny problem

If I turn off the AVR (Yamaha V477), the windows 8 box loses the hdmi audio device completely. Upon reboot it comes back. Will this EDID solution fix it? I need to keep the win8 box on 24/7 as it is my WMC box.

Thx

Can somebody help me with an EDID override? I would gladly donate if it helps me solving my problem.

- I wanted to connect my PC to TV and have the 7.1 sound.
- The lag in picture that Denon introduces is unbarable so I've bought an HDMI splitter to divide the signal from my PC to Denon and TV.
- The splitter has its own EDID that does not support anything else then LPCM 2.0
- Is it possible that I override its EDID and force 7.1 LPCM to it so that TV ignores the sound completely and Denon gets 7.1 LPCM?

Please please help !

Windows 10

Anyone having trouble with override on Windows10?
My new computer has a similar configuration to my old one. It's a AMD-Radeon. But shouldn't it still except an override? But it did not survive reboot. I had to go to work, so I couldn't stay at it.
I had what I've heard is a typical problem. I got 3 monitors connected, one is a Onkyo AVR. I tried everything the AVR to stay recognized by the computer. But it keeps switching places, or losing audio connection, if I switch off the TV and back on again, or switch off the AVR or on again. I tried different Onkyo settings here as KODI recommends:

In Hardware Setup -> HDMI
Audio TV Out - Off
HDMI Control (RIHD) - Off
Power Control - Off
TV Control - Off

But actually it seemed to work better with 'power control' on. So the at least the monitor was attached.
Then I tried hooking up an old extender I had attached to the old computer. So now it came up a 'Samsung' device. Then the plan was to 'override' it like I did on the old machine. ... And that's where I'm stuck...
hmm.. this new machine was supposed to be easier.
I'd like to kill microsoft. They were supposed to fix this stuff! So we didn't have to hack it anymore.

Excuse me, I overrode the wrong Samsung monitor device... whoops. Now having trouble un-overriding the other one.
Edit: And now I need help, the 'Uninstall' instructions left in the other thread are not working.
I accidentally overrode a DVI-Connected Samsung monitor. The uninstall instructions make the 'generic pnp' device disappear, but then it just comes back upon reboot. But back with an override.
2nd Edit: I communicated with Tuili, and I figured out I had to manually edit my registry. However I found that I needed to use the 'systeminternals' suite to do this. { psexec -s -i regedit.exe } Then I deleted the key for my DVI monitor that pointed to the Onkyo.

Hi All,
I'm new on this forum and I apologize if you answered yet to these questions, but 116 page are really to much :-)
the questions are:
- is it possible to set in the EDID only some resolutions? I tried but i find always other resolutions that are not explicit written in the EDID;
- do you know how windows select the resolutions to write as preferred (not the native, I mean these between written the Native Preferred and the Maximum resolution, there are also other that you can choose but only 3-4 are written ), I see that all the resolutions that I see in the control panel are with the same Aspect Ratio.
Thank you all very much
Best Regards
Renato

I did this a few years back and worked flawlessly. Recently I upgraded to Windows 10 and I don't think I have any surround sound problems but, no GUI display from the AVR (volume bar). My setup is as follows: Samsung Plasma - pn58a550s1f, Denon 4310 and Windows 10 64bit with ATI 5970.

I'm still reading through the thread hoping to find a clue as to what I'm doing wrong.

I downloaded MonInfo. Then I hooked up my ATI 5970 directly to my Samsung Plasma. Then I created a INF file of the monitor. Did the same thing with the Denon 4310 in between. Then opened the monitor INF file and merged it with the Denon file, saved as. Then I updated the monitor driver from device manager, restarted and it's the same as before.

I even tried a file from the first page from someone else that had a Samsung Plasma and Denon 3810. UGH!

Appreciate any help!!!!!

Hey all, i have changed my 3D setup. still using the Sony AV amp, and Sony 40ex720 monitor with motionflow.
i've got the monitor recognized and working with 3D, but a lot of ghosting.

this should work at 1920X1080@60hz as it lists in the EDID, but i can't get the Nvidia control panel to allow use of the extra HZ.
Below is the moninfo.exe dump.

updated to the latest NVidia drivers and hoping to sort this issue out before changing to the GTX1080 soon.
Anything i can try to get it working ?

PC- GTX970>LG65UF6500->RX-V673 override

Tulli,
Could you find it in your heart to create an override for me?
My TV is an LG 65UF8500. The EDID is attached.
My AVR is a Yamaha RX-V673. Its EDID is attached but does not seem to have any Block 1 info (CEA extension).
I need the LG TV to be changed from 2 channel LPCM to allow the following. The DACs are 192kHz/24-bit.
PCM up to 8 channels, DSD 6-ch, DTS, DTS Express, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD.

That's not possible due to bandwidth limitation on the TV HDMI port. Either connect to the TV through the AVR or use separate connections.

Currently using (1X Hdmi to TV ) and (1X separate Hdmi to av amp) how would I get 60hz 3d on the Sony TV?

Hi all

I have been trying to get DD 5.1 passthrough to work in KODI as it did in Plex media player (just checked exclusive mode, selected DD 5.1 capable receiver, bingo), to no avail.

I found this thing called EDID override, and thought it might be what i need:

Gigabyte Brix (intel HD) > HDMI > Samsung UN50F5000A > SPDIF > Samsung HT-F450K

(A on the TV and K on the HT are for south america, i believe, removing them nets you the international models).

As you can see, both are old devices, the TV has no ARC support, so the only way to send digital audio to te HT is using SPDIF (the HD has only 1 HDMI out, which can get audio via ARC too).

Now, my computer (with windows 10) has no spdif (old one had), and only sees the setup as a 2.0 speakers tv/receiver.

Using monitor info i captured the attached file.
I tried pluing the hdmi out from the F450 to a computer, but as i guessed, no info is captured.

Would any kind sould tell me how to add DD 5.1 AC-3 support to this .inf, or do it for me, or direct me to an .inf file i could try?

I am kinda lost past getting the edid from my tv (i did it with the receiver connected and disconected, seemed to get the same).

Besides finding no example "line" for DD5.1, i ended up with only tools that work in hex, so ... gg for me >P

Unfortunately Intel graphic adapters don't accept EDID overrides.

Your info led me to:

https : // communities.intel.com /thread/25904

I am reading page 3 now, post 37.

Some info is provided in order to get it to work, but its... complicated :P
Will keep reading, but i might end up needing the override if i am lucky XD

If not... my options would be:

1) Abandon windows, go to linux: The override is posible there, it seems (same thread, previous pages)
2) Get an HDMI detective (which one? just need the dolby digital part)
3) Get some device that takes the HDMI cable, splits the audio and sends it out through optical (are those something that exists?)
4) Get a new home theathre (when i bought this one, i literally knew nothing and saw a cheap one with 1000wats >P)
5) Get a new tv with arc

All the options that involve money are less than cool with my budget (maybe the detective one would work, but it is not sold in argentina)

I guess this is the right place?

I have an LG 55UB8500 and use the acermod4k to get 3d to work. This file- "Acer HR274H 3D Monitor EDID Override.inf" but edited for 4k playback.
Is anyone capable of making a mod for this that allows 4k resolution to be selected but has the 3d settings from the basic acer hr274H. This is to say 3d works at 1080p instead of 4k, but it can still select 4k.

The reason I need this is that videogaming at 4k is kinda impossible in 3d, so this acer4kmod is literally only useful for videos. I would love to be able to select 4k for basic desktop work and then in games choose 1080p and get 3d working.

Is this even possible? If so does anyone know how to do it?

Question

Any chance to get an EDID override for an LG 55EG9100 (aka 55EG910v in Europe)? The HDMI inputs are passing only 2 channels PCM audio to the AV receiver connected to the HDMI/ARC input, instead of compressed DD or DTS for 5.1 audio. I know I can achieve this also by modifying the EDID from within the service menu, but I don't have a way to trigger this just yet. An EDID override installed in OSX should do the trick (I believe this to be possible but please correct me if I'm wrong).
