They are shown on the Pwstrip GUI, but you should also be able to save/export the custom timings. Anyway only these are needed (Horizontal & Vertical): Active Pixels, Front Porch, Back Porch, Sync Pulse & Polarity. And maybe also the Pixel Clock.

I'm sure you guys can help me. I just got a new Denon 1712 and a AMD 6450 to setup my first real speaker system. I'm having some issues getting sound to pass to the receiver. I can pass PCM audio just fine using the onboard optical out and video seems to pass fine using the 6450 but I cannot get audio to pass over HDMI. I use a Panasonic TC-P50S1 as the display for this htpc. The only way the video works is if it is connected to the SAT/CBL input on the receiver.

Anyone feel like helping me out? Right now I'm feeling quite frustrated with this.

First of all, if applicable, do a clean install of CAT 12.6beta.

Make sure the Denon HDMI is set to "AMP", or whatever value that means non-passthrough of TV audio.

Try using HDMI ports on the Denon that are closer to the HDMI out.

Finally check that all audio formats (including TrueHD and DTS HD) are listed on the "Supported Formats" window of the AMD HDMI device properties.

If all this is OK check your player. Which one are you using?

Hi, i've seen the great work you've been doing tulli and thought i would ask you to help me with my edid please, just got my new setup, its a denon 1912 amp , acer h5360 projector and gtx 670 graphics cards. Couldn't dump the full edid's with the nvidia cards so i connected them both directly to my cpu (intel 3570k) and it worked fine that way. Had a go myself last night and it kinda annoyed me trying to get it to work, just wanting 3D to work when connecting the pc through the amp to the projector and of course DTS-HD, Dolby HD etc. I'll attach the two moninfo dumps for you, if you can help it'd be much appreciated, thanks acer+denon.zip 2k .zip file

At first i definitely didn't do it right, i applied it and there were two denons's showing up, so i followed the instructions to remove it and rebooted, then applied it to the correct screen, the other 3 show up as lg 120hz monitors correctly. Tried the devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices command and there were only four screens showing and no greyed out ones, not sure what to do, will try it again tonight

Hi everybody,

It happens that I just have upgraded my graphics card to a GTX470 then connected it as follows:

GTX470 ==(HDMI)==> KDL-40HX700 ==(TOSLINK OPTICAL)==> STR-DB930
Here after called setup (1)

The reason why I need the setup to be in this way, is because I enjoy the post-processing done on my Sony TV (MotionFlow 200Hz => HIGH & Film Mode => Auto1) and like to keep them on. If I were to feed audio separately directly to my receiver i.e.

PC SOUND CARD ==(TOSLINK OPTICAL)==> STR-DB930
&&
GTX470 ==(HDMI)==> KDL-40HX700
Here after called setup (2)

I would loose the perfect AUDIO/VIDEO sync. This is because the post-processing on my TV introduces a 100-200 ms delay to the video signal compared to the audio signal when the sound signal from the PC is not passed to the TV together with the video on the HDMI cable.

Now my problem is as follows; I can have perfectly both DD and DTS sound on my receiver having setup (2), but why can I have only DD sound and not DTS sound on my receiver having setup (1)?

I downloaded and installed the Core AVC codec and AC3Filter on my PC, then ticked SPDIF passthrough for AC3 and DTS formats; and set output format & rate to "Do not change" + "PCM 16 bit" + "Use SPDIF". I was expecting to be able to playback DD and DTS movie files using Windows Media Player on my TV (SONY TV-1 set as my default sound playback device) with setup (1) and have both sound formats playback on the receiver, but it turns out that I can't get DTS working.

Then I noted that under the SONY TV-1 sound properties I have;
Max Number of channels: 2
HDCP: Supported
Bit Depths: 16-bit & 24-bit
Sample Rates: 44.1kHz & 48.0kHz
Encoded Formats: Dolby Digital

So I started searching internet and found this forum, I then tried lots of the different override inf files of post #1, all sound properties changed, but I still did not manage to get DTS sound with setup (1). I also used MonInfo to create an inf file using the SNYEE01 Full Real-time display ID for my TV and then add the extension bloc from a 5.1 receiver like the ONKYO HT-R380 and install that as an override driver. But all without success!

Then in the asset information report given by MonInfo about my TV, I noticed the following;

CE audio data (formats supported)
LPCM 2-channel, 16/20/24 bit depths at 32/44/48 kHz
AC-3 6-channel, 640k max. bit rate at 32/44/48 kHz

I have a feeling that given that my TV does not support the DTS format, it is not capable of passing the signal through to its Optical Out connector, and that is why the receiver does receiver DD but not DTS from the TV (in setup (1)).

My big question is; if that is the case, then how come when I test the speaker configuration of the SONY TV-1 sound device with a random override inf file installed which enables 8 channels and all 3 sound formats (DD DD+ DTS), I still don't manage to hear a sound out of my speakers other than L and R? I would expect them all to work since the test signal is simply then PCM 48 kHz, not say DTS!

Could somebody help me please? Master Tulli? rolleyes.gif

Correct, your TV won't accept DTS passthrough.

For an explanation on the 2 channels limitation see here.

I'm hoping this EDID solution can help me as I am at my wits end. I've been trying to get HD AUDIO bitstreaming to work with XBMC and I think I have a problem with my ASUS HD 5450 graphics/audio card. My components are connected as such:

HTPC >> ONKYO HT-R280 (AVX 280) >> Panasonic P50G10

My Receiver is an ONKYO HT-R280 and my display shows up as HT-R280 on the HTPC. I see 5.1 surround option under the sound setup and it shows DTS-HD, TrueHD, etc as being supported, but when I test the sound speaker setup the surround speaker output comes from the front speakers and wont output from the back surround ones. In XBMC regular 5.1 DTS seems to work but the bitstreaming isnt. Is the problem with the speaker setup affecting the ability of the card to bitstream? Is it possible to use a modified INF to fix this issue? Thanks for any help someone can provide me!

Current AMD drivers have a bug with bitstreaming HD audio with 5.1. AVRs . Don't know if this is still the case with latest Catalyst 12.6 beta. You can try any of the EDID overrides for Panasonic plasmas listed on table in my sig. Otherwise follow the instructions there to capture the real-time EDID of both the TV and AVR and post them for a custom mod.

hi. i don't know if you could advise. i have a denon avr-5308ci. i bitstream from htpc without any issue. i do use mainly jriver on my htpc. jriver supports sacd.iso. i have thus ripped my sacd and they do play perfectly but i have to send them out in pcm 192/24 multichannel. without going into the debate pcm vs pure dsd streaming i'm wondering how and if i could tweak the driver/edid info. jriver allows to bitstream but when i do i only hear a humming sound and no indication. i know the denon is able to decode dsd bitstream received over hdmi but i need to find a way to output it correctly. i understand it's not an edid central question but was wondering if somebody came accross same questions on how to output dsd bitstream out of a pc.

AFAIK DSD bitstreaming is not possible with a PC. OTH the 5308 EDID already includes a DSD descriptor.

Hi, I'm new to the forum so apologies if this is in the wrong thread.

I think I need an EDID override for my HTPC (w/AMD HD6450) to properly work with my LG TV and Onkyo receiver - I'm currently not able to bitstream audio from XBMC. My current setup is HTPC --> Onkyo AVR --> LG TV.

The real time EDIDs of the TV and AVR are attached. lg-onkyo-realtime-edid-infs.zip 2k .zip file

Tulli, if you could please help me out it would be much appreciated! (Though I won't be able to reply for the next week.)

Are all audio formats listed for the AMD HDMI device? Have you already tried latest Catalyst beta (12.6 beta)? Can you bitstream with e.g. MPC-HC + LAV Filters?

Sorry, I didn't fully explain my situation.

I'm on the 12.7 beta drivers (must have been recently released). Yes, all audio formats are listed for the AMD HDMI device (which, I think from your previous post would suggest that an EDID override is not needed), but it also says "maximum number of channels: 2", and I can only get stereo output from MPC-HC and the like. Interestingly, I can get full 6 channel DTS/DD output from XBMC 11.0. The XBMC nightlies, which claim to support HD audio, do not work, and a suggested solution is an EDID override from here, as quite a few people from the XBMC forums say that Onkyo receivers have handshaking troubles.

I think this is more my issue, especially because very often when I boot up the HTPC, I have to launch CCC and change a setting related to the panel (e.g. overscan), as the picture does not fill the full frame of the screen. Once I've changed a setting (and changed it back - as long as I click "Apply"), it seems to re-handshake and the picture fills the TV screen again.

I guess, looking back, video issues seem to be more my problem, but I've tried everything I can related to that, and an EDID override is the last thing I can think of.

I've read through dozens of forum posts online and it seems like this is the right place to post this. I have a Windows 7 64 machine with an Geforce 210 card. My connections are all HDMI from my graphics card on my HTPC to my Pioneer VSX-1121 to my Panasonic TC-P50GT25 TV. Things have worked well up until very recently. Thinking it was a driver upgrade issue, I've tried system restore to previous points as well as uninstalling the NVIDIA drivers and reinstalling old drivers.

Nothing seems to get me around the issue of having my audio device disconnected when my TV turns off and then gets turned back on again. It seems to be a handshaking issue of some sort. The only thing that gets me audio is to reboot the machine or physically disconnect/reconnect the HDMI cable from the video card.

Can someone help with this issue. Any workaround? Much obliged.

Maybe the attached EDID override will help. Otherwise I have no idea, so anything could be tried: changing HDMI cables or even a fresh system install.

I tried this EDID following your instructions on post 1 of this thread, but after completing it just told me that it was already up to date. Meaning, the information I supplied it was no different than what it already had. Interesting. I'm assuming since nothing happened, nothing was gained or lost.

On a somewhat related note, the EDID you provided me is for the Panasonic TC-P50G15; I have a TC-P50GT25, if that matters.

Hope you guys can help me out with a problem I m having:

I just moved from the Marantz SR-5005 to an Onkyo TX-SR876 because I wanted to upgrade from Audyssey MultEQ to Mult EQ XT and could make a good deal on the Onkyo.

Tonight I fired up my HTPC in order to play a Blu-Ray movie. Unfortunately NO SOUND. I checked the Nvidia Control Panel and the audio properties of the TX-SR876 which was nicely showed by the Nvidia Control Panel. Next, when you click on the audio button in the Nvidia Control Panel you automatically are directed to the windows audio properties. The High-Def audio is set as default audio device. Next I cheched the properties of the audio device. I always select 5.1 surround and select TEST. Normally a pinging sound sequence is then heard from all the satelite speakers and subwoofer, but as soon as I click on TEST the amp shuts down and the stand-by button keeps blinking red. When I put it back on and try it again it keeps happening. Ok, no testing is what I thought, let s try Media Player Classic again: NOTHING...... no sound at all.
I know the HTPC is set up properly because everything worked ok on my older Marantz SR5005. There s also one more strange thing: when I startup windows with my Onkyo ON the Dolby Digital (red) icon is showed by the Onkyo. This also seems strange......

EDIT: When running my high-def Blu-Ray I said there is no sound comming from my AVR. To be more specific: nothing happens with the AVR. Normally you can see the AVR switch to eg. Dolby True-HD or DTS Master on it s display but that s not happening.

Also the problem is not Media Player Classic: this is configured properly because it works on my Marantz SR5005.

Setup:
- Onkyo TX-NR876 with latest MAIN firmware (1.05) and latest DSP 1st version.
- HDMI main as output to HDMI input of my JVC X30 projector.
- HTPC with Nvidia GeForce GTX460 with latest Nvidia driver
- Nvidia mini-HMDI output connected to HDMI1 input of Onkyo with a miniHDMI=>HDMI dongle=>regular HDMI cable.
- Windows7 with MPC-HC as player.

Something is not right here. Can anyone help?
If more information is needed please let me know.

Try a DVI-HDMI adapter/cable. The mini-HDMI port could be the problem (as it usually is, at least for me).
