I thought I'd start a "Movie Intro" thread. Here is one I made with blender. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcxotgs9ImY
Click on the "HD" logo under the video to watch it in the actual HD resolution.

It's easy to do using this step by step process http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=715166 but it can get confusing, so I'm creating my own tutorial.

PM me with a phrase and your email address along with what resolution you want and I'll set it up for you and email you the blender file. Keep in mind, I've done 1080p ones and it took like 20+ hours to render. 720p only took like 10 hours.

Those of you attempting to create your own blender file to render, stay tuned for a "flicker Fix" tutorial.

Keep in mind, if I send you a requested blender file, it should be 95% flicker free. I myself am trying to fix ALL the flicker issues.

As soon as you get the image the way you want, click "Animate". That will start the long 10+ hour render sequence. Minimize all the Blender windows and leave the DOS window up. It will give you an elapsed time for each frame rendered. Mine took about 45 sec per frame. There are 600 frames of animation. To figure out about how long it will take to complete, multiply the time it takes a frame by 600 divided by 60, divided by 60. That will give you an estimated time frame in hours. (45sec X 600 frames divided by 60 divided by 60 = 7.5 hours)

After the render is complete (it saves it to C:\
ender by default) open up Windows Photo Galley (in Vista, not sure about XP or 7) and click on "make a movie" at the top of the window.

From there, you'll need to import the raw AVI (720p=3gig) to Windows Movie Maker.

I also found a simple black screen picture so I could fade in and fade out the finished movie.

Now simply drag the Pic (if you so choose) and Raw AVI into the timeline like so (the black picture is in the beginning and end of the AVI)...

At this point you can watch the movie. Keep in mind a 3gig, 22 second movie clip is going to be choppy (its not compressed yet). Don't worry, the finished product will play smooth.

Next, you'll need to download the audio. You can find it here... http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/820886/fox_dts.zip Make sure you click "All Files (*.*)" or Movie Maker may not see the file. Simply import it like you did with the Raw AVI and drag it into the timeline like before. Line up the audio clip so it starts when the movie starts. The clip I used is a split second longer, so I just split the difference.

Now, right click the movie and click on effects effects. Add both fade in from black and fade out to black and click ok. This will give the intro a nice smooth effect.

At this point you may watch the video with audio now. Keep in mind, it will still be choppy. If all is good, simply click "Publish Movie".
Its going to ask you a couple questions, like where to save, and movie name, but the most important part is the quality. Click on "more settings" and choose what resolution you want the movie to be. I always choose 1080p....Who wouldn't?? But you can choose which ever suits your fancy. After that, just click publish, wait a few seconds, and your done with the movie intro.

How to add Movie Intro's to MKV's, AVI's, and DIVX movies

After your movie intro is complete, you can simply add it to your movie folders and just rename them. For example.... Kung Fu Panda01.wmv (intro), and Kung Fu Panda02.mkv. When you push play on your remote in MediaBrowser, the intro will play first, followed by the movie.

How to add a Movie Intro to DVD rips
Now for the tricky part, adding intro's to DVD rips. Basically all you need is Nero and DVDShrink. These are the programs I use and unfortunately the only example I can give. I'm sure you guys can figure out how to do this with other programs. Ok, after you get the Movie Intro finished, open up Nero. Select "Make your own DVD-Video". Next, click on "Add video files" and select your finished intro WMV. Now that your intro is selected, press next. This will bring you to the screen for adding menu's. Click on the "Menu's to use" drop down and select "Do not create a menu". Now click next. This will bring you to the preview screen. (I have Nero 7 Essentials, your process may be different) Click next again, this will bring you to the "Burn Options" screen. Be sure to click on "Write to HDD folder" and choose where to save your file. Now click "Write" and in about 15 seconds, your DVD Movie Intro will be done.

I will add pics and finish the DVDShrink process soon, so stay tuned.

These look great! and I've been looking for a good set of icons.

Can we get comedy and action. Also, do you know if we can put icons in the filter select page (None, Actor, Genre, etc.) if so can we get those also when you get a chance. Thanks

No rush, I just got mb installed today so I have plenty to tweak. I'd also like to add anime to the list, to use as both folder and genre icon.

As far as picture ideas, sorry but i'm artistically handicapped

Would like a Kids icon, for example with "Jip en Janneke". They are a the characters in a well known book here in the Netherlands.

Question : where do you put different icons. I know that the folder icons are in the folder itself and shoud be named folder.jpg. But waht about the genre and application icon ?

For the application icon, go to the Media Browser folder under programs in the C drive and overwrite the original icon.

As far as the genre's go, I haven't gone so far as to figure that out yet. Try asking in the "Viseo Browser" thread, I'm sure the answer is in there.

For the genre icon, create a folder called ImagesByName under Mediabrowser in ProgramData and inside that folder create folders with the exact genre name that MB uses.
ex. C:\\ProgramData\\Mediabrowser\\ImagesbyName\\Horror Film\\folder.png

Once you setup the ImagesbyName folder you can also go into Metabrowser and start downloading actor images. Just specify the folder in options and update each movie individually or process all movies at once to download actor photos.

Tried these tonight, and they look great. I'm looking for a Documentaries one as well though to complete my set. Maybe we just need one with the video camera, but change the text.

Also, what font are you using for the text?

These icons are great! Do you have more planned already or still looking for ideas?

There's standard genre's that I would think would fill the ticket for most films without being too specific.

Action/Adventure - Maybe a picture of Charlies Angels or someone hanging of a cliff
Animation - Pixar character of some sort
Comedy - Laurel and Hardy, "Have a nice day" logo
Documentary (History/War) - Someone famous in a thinking pose
Drama - A mother hugging her kid crying lol
Family/Kids -
Fantasy - Picture of Gandalf from lord of the rings
Foreign - Scroll with Chinese writing
Musical - Already have something similar
Mystery - Picture of Sherlock Holmes
Romance - Picture of two people holding hands or kissing
War - Sherman tank, machine guns, wwii naval mine
Western - John Wayne, cowboy, riding a horse.

These are just if you're looking for ideas, I know I'd love to have them. Looking for good pictures and touching them up must be the most time consuming part of it. Let me know if you want any help looking for some.

You should really be posting these on the Media Browser forums as well. There's a sub-forum set up there for fan art, and I think you'd find quite a few interested people.
