I have a custom HTPC running vista Ultimate with a radeon 2600 Pro with latest drivers and caatalyst suite out to hdmi via dvi and optical out running to a Yamaha RX-V1800 AV Receiver then from there to a Samsung LN-T4661F TV. I constantly switch inputs on the amp to switch between my pvr and other devices like xbox etc via channels on the amp.
Heres the problem, whenver i switch away from the pc to another signal such as the pvr adn then switch back to my pc i lose my desired resolution. I run the pc at 1080i and it always wants to go back to some crappy resolution. Has anyone found a way within vista or radeon in general to keep resolutions at the desired level. For debugging sake whenever i switch back my pc makes the new device found noise like when you plug in a usb cable which i guess is to be expected since the amp cuts the line to the tv every time i switch inputs.

Any suggestions or links in the right direction would be appreciated
