Can't reproduce it again, maybe because of the 9.12 hotfix. Problem now is only on WinDVD10, so it really looks now like a player bug with this specific BD.

Anyway, will take a look at the Pioneer EDID when WIREBALLZ posts it, create a Pioneer_MOD.inf with the video and audio descriptors that have proved to work. IF this doesn't solve the DTS MA issue then it's driver bug of course.

That's very possible. Interesting to note that the 9.12 hotfix *seems* to have improved 24Hz with TMT3 on my 4850 on my bedroom machine. I haven't had time for a full movie test, but, just messing around with one of my images on that machine I haven't seen any stutter or sync issues. This was definitely a problem before. PDVD9 is also working well on that machine, so, I can't say I'm displeased with this latest round of drivers so far.

Ok, attached is the modded inf for the Pioneer. It works for Vista.

The audio descriptors actually were in a different order than the Onkyo's so a parsing problem is possible. I replaced only the audio descriptors and left the video part untouched.

To apply the EDID override follow step 3 from the link posted above.

OK, so the AVR is not the issue then.

What about graphstudio? Does it work from there?

Err ... but some stupid question: did you reboot after applying the override?

Also, check that the override is correctly applied by going to

Control Panel->Device Manager->Expand on Monitors.

If you see a "Generic PnP Monitor" there for the pioneer, righ click on it, select update, and repeat step3 routine and, of course, reboot.

Many thanks.

I tried the Realtek one, and it made things worse. Stick with the ATI HDMI driver in Catalyst 9.12 or newer. As said before, you may have to create a custom monitor driver if you are having a disparity between the video capabilities of your monitor and the audio capabilities of your AVR.

9.12 Hotfix and 9.12 have the same buggy HDMI driver as 9.11's, so I'll stay with the Realtek 2.39.

Is this custom inf still required if my AVR does get properly detected?

I have a Onkyo TX-607 which gets detected as TX-607 in the hardware overview (i must admit that i use a 4770) with the newest updates windows is reporting full HD bitstreaming support for it (but it is not working, i'm getting blips and beeps)

anyone know the next coming 5350 is also support DTS-HD and TrueHD bitstream enabled? or already confirm all 5xxx series ATI are support?
should I wait for the most entry level 5 series or just get 5750 now?
I just want HD bitstream, totally no gaming required....

It helps resolving bad handshakes with my 4670, but no bitstreaming possible so far even so with this card for me.

Assuming madshi's incorrect, and there's something that can be figured out, anyway. I really do hope the 4xxx people end up with bitstreaming but I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.

All 5xxx series will support HD audio bitstreaming. I didn't want to wait, so I got the XFX 5750 even though I don't do any gaming. It's small and silent.

Using a 5750 hooked up to an onkyo 606 im having no luck. I created an edid override using moninfo with no luck. I can without the override (and with) select the third option in pdvd9, but this does nothing and will eventually crash pdvd. I tried using ffdshow and mpc but I could not get it to stream anything, nor could I get it to use the mpc renderer (it kept defaulting to directshow as the renderer which did not work). I have the newest realtek drivers and I believe cat 9.11 is installed. I'm under vista sp1, do I need sp2?

My experience so far...

Equipment and Software:
Integra DTC-9.8 Processor
Radeon 5750 with 9.12 drivers (not the hotfix)
Playback: Windows 7, 7MC with MediaBrowser, WMF disabled, Gabest splitter, audio using FFDShow tryouts 3164, using Windows Video Decoder
File formats:
MKV movies with 1080p and TrueHD or DTS-MA audio
M2TS movies with 1080p and TrueHD or DTS-MA audio

Problem #1:
During boot up, I get "an incompatible signal has been received" error and no video, but this goes away after Windows boots up and the ATI driver is loaded. This means I can't access my HTPC's BIOS should I need to. Also, the HDMI sync is sporadic, sometimes I have to switch to another source and switch back for my Integra processor to sync and display video.

Problem #2:
In 7MC, I can get MKVs with TrueHD or DTS-MA to bitstream to my processor. But for some movies (e.g. Into The Wild), the TrueHD audio is choppy and drops out every 4-5 seconds. I have no such problems with DTS-MA.

Problem #3:
M2TS files with VC-1 video is choppy. M2TS files with AVC are fine. Bitstreaming HD audio works in either case, but is choppy along with the video.

Problem #4:
No fast forward or rewind capability in MKV or M2TS. But I can skip ahead and back.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Well upgrading to SP2 got powerdvd to work, but ffdshow for some reason is converting to lpcm.

Yeah, it works with Direct Sound Device over 12 hotfix +tuli's override +Realtek drivers.
Seven 64 btw

But i must say without Realtek, Ati HDMI output gave me better sound with THD on PDVD.
