I am about ready to pull the trigger and place the order for the components for my new HTPC.

I will get the Hauppauge 1250, but was wondering if the included remote was any good for controlling MCE (win7). Does anybody have any experience with this? Or should I buy the Anyware GP-IR01BK in addition?

Also, the 1250 will be capable of displaying / let me record both Clear QAM stations and SD content with win7 MCE, correct?

Thanks for any last moment advise, I don't want to make a mistake and miss anything, or end up buying too much!

One more question: how does the 1250 compare to the 1800? Is it better to have two tuners: one analog / one digital vs. one tuner for analog & digital in the 1250?

Thanks a lot for any help, I am planning on placing my order tomorrow.

Anybody?

I think I found the answer to the remote question: if I get the 1250, I'll need another remote, as what comes with the tuner card is not really a MCE remote.
But what about the 1800 vs. the 1250? Is it true that when using the 1800, I would need an external splitter before going into the card (my analog & digital channels come through the same coax out of the wall)? I don't like that idea, because I already will have to split the signal between TV and HTPC, and I am concerned about the signal strength. I did have some signal strength problems in the past.

Thanks!

i have two 1250s, the remote that comes with only controls the card, not MCE, you need an ir receiver that plugs into a usb in order to control MCE.
