Tulli...

THanks for the response, but I'm confused. When I read your post linked to your signature, I seems to mention the exact problem I'm having...

I get all audio formats bit streamed to the Denon 988, except Dolby TrueHD.

The way I read your posts...the custom EDID will make a change to allow the system to bitstream the TrueHD audio.

I have the latest version of the codecs installed and used the latest version of MakeMVK to create the files.

I'll check the LAV settings...

Thanks,
eric

The problem that you mention was fixed some time ago by AMD. Do you have a recent version of the graphic driver installed?

I do have the latest version of the AMD drivers, just updated today. Same results both before and after.

I'll go back and do some more checking on this....was hoping this was going to fix the problem!

Thanks

Are you using MPC-HC? Set LAV Splitter to preferred. Maybe it's using the included Gabest Matroska Splitter.

Does it happen also with Blu-ray discs a/o other players?

Hello guys

I have a Pioneer PDP-5070HD and a Denon AVR1610 and I just got a new HTPC running XBMC which I like to leave on all the time and at random times when I turn off my Denon AVR1610 and then turn it back on hours later I have no signal from the HTPC at all. And even unplugging and replugging in the HDMI cable does not fix it. The only way to get a picture and sound back is to to a hard reset to the HTPC.

My HTPC has a AMD Radeon 6320 video card which also does True HD and DTS HD.

Could someone here point me to the correct EDID file that I would need and also how to install it?

I actually ordered a HDMI Detective Plus yesterday which I understand should fix my issue with losing the signal however then I remembered seeing this thread and was hoping it could save me the $85 that I just spent. I canceled the order for now just in case you guys can fix the issue for me

The HTPC HDMI is plugged into the Denon and the Denon HDMI is plugged into the Pioneer.

It is just driving me nuts when I turn on my Denon and Pioneer and there is no signal coming form the HTPC

Also If leave XBMC running with a video playing and turn off my Denon 1610. When I turn my Denon back on XBMC crashes to my desktop and I have to restart XBMC.
Also if I use the option "Use full screen rather then true full screen" in XBMC when I turn my Denon back on the video is running but really really slow!

Hope you guys can help

Thanks

An EDID override won't help. Get the Gefen HDMI Detective.

Absolutely. It will keep the HDMI connection to the HTPC active regardless of switching on the AVR.

Wonderful news!!

Thanks

Hey would you happen to have good setup advice for the Gefen HDMI Detective? Taking into account the hardware I have?

My setup HTPC HDMI is plugged into the Denon 1610 and the Denon 1610 HDMI is plugged into the Pioneer 5070.

Program it with the AVR EDID when connected to the Pioneer and put it between the HTPC and the AVR.

Hi Tulli,

Another techie (me!) needs your help.

"No compressed formats found", 2 channel device visible for my SONY TV (KDL60EX720), connected via Windows 7 64 bit to my Sony AVR.

HTPC (Nvidia Geforce GT 430 HDMI) --> Sony AVR (STR-DH520) --> SONY TV.

Problem:

HTPC handshakes only with the Sony TV. No settings work to get it to handshake with the AVR (Should show SONY AVAMP, or something similar). This limits me to 2 channel audio, and no Dolby Digital decoding.

Tried installing Moninfo.exe, attempting EDID override. Sony TV shows 2 channels in EDID info, not sure how to modify it and dump it back into my HTPC to trick it to output 5.1 over HDMI.

Your help on where to start would be graciously appreciated.

Thanks for the info!

Although I'm beginning to suspect my issue may only be solvable with a Gefen HDMI detective. HTPC goes to sleep, I power off AVR, then wake up PC before I power on the AVR, and 50% of the time the PC refuses to see more than 2 channels of audio - other times, it goes into an infinite loop of detecting the AVR then detecting the monitor, then goes back to detecting the AVR again, over and over once every 3 seconds!

Yes, most probably. But you could try overriding the EDID after powering on the AVR. In your case it would just be the case of inserting/replacing the extended block from the Yamaha .inf (the 'HKR,EDID_OVERRIDE,"1",...' line) into the Dell .inf real time captured file (just after the 'HKR,EDID_OVERRIDE,"0",...' line) and applying it to the GenericPnP monitor driver generated by Windows. Reboot and see if it works.

Hello

I've been looking for a solution as to how to get surround sound from my TV to my reciever, and EDID came up and eventually this thread.

I'm running a laptop with Mobility HD5650 connected to a Samsung UE46d5005 via HDMI and my Yamaha RX-V461 connected to the TV via toslink.

When i bought the RX-V461 it was a tricky bastard with its shiny "HDMI" label but it was ONLY passthrough as I've painstakingly learned and thus the toslink configuration.

My thougt was that if I could trick the computer to send multichannel sound to the TV, the TV would then bypass the audio to my reciever and voila!

So I am having a hard time getting my reciever's edid (duh) to make the custom .inf file, although I did try and make one with my TV's EDID and the EDID from an Yamaha RX-V6xx with no luck.

Am I even looking for an EDID here?

Any help is highly appreciated.

Try the attached EDID override which should work for your Samsung TV. It will give you at least DD capability (not sure about DTS).

Hi everybody
I'm a new French member.
First of all i want to apologize for my bad english. Be sure i'll do my best to be as clear as possible...
I've got for a week my new onkyo txsr 608, and a gtx 560 ti 448 with a sony vpl-hw 20. I would like to bitstream all audio from my computer to my onkyo receiver. It works well for dolby digital and DTS, but it doesn't work for dts-hd and true hd. My receiver plays DTS instead of DTS-HD A french member of another forum says me it can be the edid which is "bad"(he find the solution here for his receiver ). I use mpc-hc with lav filter and ffdshow (well configurated with the help of topic on a french forum). If you think my problem can have some issues there...
A french member who thank you....

Just check the "Supported Formats" tab for the HDMI audio device properties. If TrueHD and DTS HD are listed your problem is not EDID-related.

Also the receiver should be set to no passthrough of the proj. audio.

If you move your mouse over the ffdshow audio systray icon, it should show something like "HDMI passthrough" (I can't remember well as I don't use ffdshow now).

When I check the "Supported Formats" tab for the HDMI audio device properties, DTS-HD and Dolby true HD are not listed.
My receiver is not set to passthrough of my vpl hw20.
Ffdshow is set to bitstream all audio.
Thanks Tulli

Ok, and native resolution is 1080p, right? Well, as there seems to be an EDID issue please capture and post the vpl hw20 real-time EDID (see instr. on 1st. post) and I'll produce a mod for your setup.

Quick question on wheter an EDID override will solve my issue.

I have my HTPC only connected to my Samsung LN52A750. More often than not, when I come out of standby, I have video but no audio.

Can I use the Samsung LN52A750 - DENON 2310 EDID override to solve my missing audio issue?

TIA,

AL

If the problem is with WMC it won't work at all. Otherwise apply it to the present GenericPnP monitor driver when you get no audio. Reboot and test it. Hopefully it will work.

Also, it won't work with Intel IGPs.
