Does anyone know the thread size for the screws used in a PC to attach items to the case? IE this would be the cover attaching to the back or the dust covers over the slots for the MB and similar items. NOT for attaching hard drives or other periferals. (those are smaller threads).

There are usually only 2 choices. M3 and 6/32. M3 is the most common. I think you can tell by seeing if the screw you have fits either your hard drive or your CDROM.
