Use your receiver's ProLogic setting for surround sound.

Has it been confirmed what sort of hardware accel Netflix uses in Win8? Has anyone tested a low power atom/ion or Zacate type system?

I've got an first generation R-3610 Acer Revo running Win8 and the NetFlix app looks a lot better and runs a lot smoother than the SilverLight and Chrome Win7 version. NetFlix has a separate non-Media Center app in W8. I haven't played with the Revo a lot lately though.

When I was having streaming issues on HTPC, I found (via task manager...WXP) that my anti-virus was taxing the cpu at near 100%. Now, I disable my antivirus when streaming movies and cpu utilization has dropped by half or more and the stuttering and tearing diminished noticeably. ymmv.
