Finally I can be almost happy with the http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/ge...quality-84441/ on Nvidia GPU

Unfortunately there still seems to be "silent stream" & "random noise" issues present. Those are happening randomly (in other applications as well). Both are quite annoying issues and happen at least with GT220.

I'm not getting any "random noise", can you elaborate? Also, you might wanna report the silent stream to nvidia. I did and surprisingly after some days someone apologized for the delay and assured me it was being looked into. Nothing to lose, everything to gain.

Update to this post:

Quote:

Associate recently reported that prior to the end of year NVIDIA will release video card GeForce GT 440, which, in spite of relationship with GeForce GT 430, will be based on GF106 chip as GeForce GTS 450. In this case the quantity of stream processors will decrease from 192 to 144 pieces. It was assumed that the 128- bit bus and support to GDDR5 memory will be preserved.

Associates report that to the GeForce GT 440 are now assigned 128- bit bus and support to GDDR3 memory. This card will presented to the end of October for $99.

Alright guys. I'm jumping in head first. I just ordered an ASUS GTS 450. Slightly overclocked with their very nice cooler on it. I'm HOPING it comes this week but I suspect it'll most likely come on Monday. I guess I better find my copy of Driver Cleaner and get it ready for that machine. Sorry, AMD, but, quite frankly the latest driver fiasco is not making me happy.

Nvidia is including a "clean" option in their new drivers though. I didn't use driver cleaner.

That doesn't help me remove the existing AMD crap, though. Remember I'm replacing the 4850 blast furnace with this card. I'm sure some people will be surprised to see me go with nVidia, but, that just means they haven't known me long enough. I had an 8800 that's still in my son's machine. One of the best cards I ever owned, but, they blew it on HTPC stuff until this generation. So, nVidia, I'm back, but, let's not screw it up again, yea?

ah yes. Don't know how you're playing, but I'm getting audio glitches (James confirmed too) with the Nvidia+TMT3+ReClock+24p combination.

Oh sure, NOW you tell me. WHACK! I guess if I run into that I'll have to lean on some people to get that fixed. Cause yes, I will need ReClock + TMT3 (when it's patched) and the 450.

I don't know if it will happen when bitstreaming though. See here.

Not everything I do is bitstreamed, though. For example, HD DVD's are decoded to PCM. Any PCM movies will likely exhibit this behavior. As long as it's repro'able we can maybe get ArcSoft to look at it.

something to keep in mind with the new drivers (from tweakguides):

Quote:

Update: You must now keep the Nvidia Driver Helper Service set to Automatic, or preferably Manual, otherwise the Nvidia Control Panel may not open.

OK guys, these trials have been made on a fresh install of seven 32.

Win updates+dxwebsetup only.

Players pdvd10 the latest patch and WinDVD10 the latest.

clarkdale i3+ H55
460

Here are the results:

PDVD10:

Never wants to run with AnyDVD.

DTSHD-HR:

Works without AnyDVD and i get blu light on my AVR. (doesn't work with AnyVD at all.)
(test BDs:
Predator 2, Hitman)

DTSHD-MA:

Never works with/without AnyDVD: no sound no blu light.
(with AnyDVD you wouldn't hear anything even from the intro clip.)
(test BDs:
Alchemy Live Dire Straits, Clash of the Titans)

THD:

Same results with DTSHD MA:
No sound no blu light.
(test BD: Spiderman3)

Guys i'm tired of making tests really.

But i have to say WinDVD10 works great with both nVidia and Ati.

THAt's all.

Cyberlink guys making joke with us i think.

You aren't the only one reporting that PDVD10 isn't bitstreaming with the nVidia cards. This has me worried. I bought the 450 this morning and it should be here in a couple days. So, this is not the time to be telling me that bitstreaming in PDVD10 isn't working considering TMT hasn't been updated yet. Cyberlink needs to address this. Immediately.

Rica, I hope you realize that a LOT of us have come to trust and appreciate fully your analysis of a great many things, so, I definitely trust your tests. I only have one license for WinDVD, so, it does me no good on the machine with the 450, unfortunately. I will have MPC-HC + ffdshow, obviously, but, I need to have a commercial player bitstreaming, as well. Here's hoping ArcSoft not only gets it out quickly, but, correctly.

Samuri, thanks a lot for your compliment but i wouldn't mean it.
But if you have a license of WinDVD you can use it on just two HDDs.
Why not ask them to extend your activation?
I suppose they will do this by pleasure

PS i think they should donate us

If you gonna make a clean install to another disk yes.
If you want to use the same disk which WinDVD already installed, there is a cleaning procedure.

WinDVD installed on the second machine no problem. So that's sweet. I've got the nVidia driver download sitting on that machine's download dir and waiting for the card to get here.

Agreed. That's really boring.
Think about i have a disk from region x and i wouldn't remove the region code at least and i would have to rip my original diks to watch with a fake BD player later for the sake of a commercial player.

Perfect.

What is missing here is downsampled PCM streaming and why we don't use MPC-HC/FFDSHOW together with Haali for them.
So my final choice will probably be:
WinDVD for bitstreaming,
MPC-HC/ffdshow/haali/ReClock-bitperfect mode- for PCM streaming (24/16 automaically selected via direcly linked filters: haali > reclock)
If you don't like MPC' s internal video filter, use ArcSoft video filter

Yup. I would agree with that. Can't wait for TMT to get updated.

If you don't like MPC' s internal video filter, use ArcSoft video filter

As for PCM:

I forgot haali doesn't support 96.

So you have two options:

Opening just from the file: (i don't like it because it doesn't recognize mpls)

Select Arcsoft 2.125 filters under external filters (arcsoft demux, arcsoft audio decoder hd, arcsoft video)
This time you have to select 5.1 every time.

Or

Select MPC's internal gabest filters and ffdshow.

This time you have the chance open DVD or from the file but you have to select the bithdepth manually.

I think the second choice is more handy and more functional.

I hope somebody will write codes to run it automatically some day.
