I am looking for the proper driver configuration for my Sony VAIO XL1 200-disc changer using Windows 7 Professional (upgraded from Vista which was upgraded from XP).

What "Device functions" should appear for the disc changer when you view the Hardware properties of the device?

Right now, I show the following:
SBP2 Compliant IEEE 1394 device (SBP2 IEEE 1394 Devices)
Sony VGP-XL1B (Medium Changer devices)
Sony VGP-XL1B IEEE 1394 SBP2 Device (DVD/CD-ROM Drives)

With my current configuration (above), my computer can play the currently "loaded" dvd in the changer in Windows Media Player. However, when I try to access the Movie Library in Media Center to view all DVDs, Media Center crashes.

I would appreciate ANY help before I throw this changer thru the window

I figured out the problem so I won't be throwing my changer out the window after all.

After turning off the changer, the problem STILL existed so I scoured the Internet and found out that it was a bad ehome Database file.

I had to delete the file in this directory:

c:\\ProgramData\\Microsoft\\ehome

This link below gives one file name (I didn't have that file in this directory). I just deleted the one with the file type of DATABASE FILE.

search social.answers.microsoft dot com/Forums (can't post a url).

Hope this helps someone else out there!

Just wondering - does anybody still use this device?

I have one that I once used to rip my big CD collection, and I'm wondering if it'll work on Windows 8.1. Of course, I could just try it
