Had to do a (software) rebuild of my HTPC today so I gave these a try.

Running an HD5570 with Vista x32.

At a quick glance its all working well. Bitstreaming Bluray with TMT5 is working and there is no silent stream bug (In otherwords, short sounds play right away without having to 'wake up' the stream). No crashes yet and settings seem to be remembered. I'll have to play around a bit more but they seem really good.

None of the links in the OP work.
I installed it on 6850 - works just fine. Bitstreaming in PDVD10, TMT3, ffdshow works. Nothing is broken comparing to 10.10e. Even video quality seems to look a bit better, but that I didn't compare carefully.

Win 7 x86. So, I had no issues. Even driver string updated in Catalyst.

Has the "Mute bug" been fixed? My guess is that the answer is "no", since there's no mention of any audio issues at all in the release notes...

Everything is working for me so far. I am running the Realtek HDMI driver, but all the video settings are remembered and I haven't found any obvious issues.

No. HDMI driver is old, version 7.12.0.7700 from 11/17/2010. I never pressed mute button on MCE remote, though. I use receiver remote.

i had an issue with 11.1 which caused random video crash for my HTPC (turning the HDTV blank). i had to roll back to 10.11. has anyone experienced this in 11.2? if everything is good. i might make the jump. i also heard that 11.1 had some funky color space issue that crushes some of the blacks. is this still an issue in 11.2?

I haven't experienced that. If anything, blacks are better for me than before. So far the only issue that I have is a 24hz refresh rate is actually 23.90 instead of 23.976. That was the case with previous drivers as well though, so nothing new there.

Wow, I installed these, got an error in W7 saying the drivers were unsigned, and then whatever I used to try playing some files would crash.

Completely uninstalled the drivers, need to install again to see if its fixed...

I installed 11.2 last night and used it for a little while with no problems. My Bluray rips did seem to look better, nice and sharp with deep blacks. I haven't tested any standard DVD rips yet. I'm using Win7 64bit with a Radeon 5xxx card.

I don't think it can be used in laptops. If I remember right, they use a slightly different version that is tweeked by the laptop manufacturer.

just tried the 11.2. it has the same black-out issue as i had with 11.1.

just to be clear. my system setup are: 46" Samsun LCD HDTV, Onkyo tsx SR606, HTPC with HD5850 outputting through HDMI with both video and audio to the receiver. so essentially both video/audio are sent to the onkyo 606 via HDMI and then finally to the HDTV. with 10.11, or 10.5 (the two drivers i used the most without issues) everything was fine. but with this newest 11.1/11.2 if i turn off the tv, leaving the receiver on, and the hTPC on, after a few hours i lose the video signal (receiver says "no signal"). or even sometimes even with Tv on, receiver on, HTPC on. i just go take a shower and when i get back the tv is blank and receiver will report "no signal". it seems to do this when the HTPC is idle.

again, this seems to be a new issue with the new 11.1/11.2 driver. i've since switched back to 10.11.

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 is being released to the general public this week via Windows Update (possibly starting tomorrow).

According to the release notes one of the fixes is;

"Improved HDMI audio device performance - A small percentage of users have reported issues in which the connection between computers running Windows 7 and HDMI audio devices can be lost after system reboots. Updates have been incorporated into SP1 to ensure that connections between Windows 7 computers and HDMI audio devices are consistently maintained."

If anyone observes improvements with their setups after installing SP1, including HDMI connection after powering equipment on/off in different sequences, after resuming from sleep, etc. please post and let us know.

I am downloading it now from MSDN, and will install it today. It was released to MSDN on 2/16.

I have SP1 from TechNet or MSDN or something. I'll try it tonight and see how it goes.

I installed SP1, and it did fix a few things, but it is hard to tell if it improved anything with HDMI audio.

The issues I had with the AMD driver were always sporadic, so I am not sure if they have been fixed or not. One is an issue that causes constant white noise when the receiver and TV are turned on (PC never sleeps). That happens about 1-2% of the time. The other is with popping in the speakers when I skip a chapter which doesn't always happen either. BTW, neither of those things ever happened with the Realtek driver.

Oddly enough, the two things that did seem to go away is launching a movie from Media Browser to be played in TMT5. It would always play immediately with BluRays, but required clicking play a 2nd time with DVDs. Well, that appears to be fixed now. The 2nd is with the Favorites plugin for Media Browser. The MC entry point would occasionally get messed up, and now that appears to be fixed as well. In the past I would have to delete the entry point and recreate it. It was broken before the upgrade, and after the upgrade it was working again without me doing anything else.

One last thing, maybe it is my imagination, but it seems as though the PC boots faster now. I didn't do any pre/post-SP1 timings to confirm this.

No hotfixes applied to your TMT3 3.0.1.185?

Thanks. I updated to catalyst 11.2 and was a little surprised my TMT3 3.0.1.185 with no hotfixes seemed to work just fine (bitstreaming, pause/resume, chapter skip, fast forward etc). Maybe it's because I'm using reclock.

I upgraded to 11.2 and W7 x64 SP1 on the weekend. Running a 5770 through to a Denon 3808 then onto a Samsung LCD TV. Had encountered 2 persistent issues prior to the upgrade:

1) Windows resize down to approx 1024x768 after receiver/TV turned off/on. Not fixed by any of the updates. Damn annoying issue!!!!
2) Loss of audio over HDMI after swapping between a few different codecs. *seems* to be fixed (previously required that I turn receiver off/on)

Although I'm now encountering the mute bug. Never had that before. Freaked me out the first time until I understood what was happening.

I also lost my overscan options at first (seriously AMD/ATI? that again???), but they came back after I underinstalled the DisplayLink driver for my secondary monitor (samsung u70).

Would really love a fix for the resizing. It's the most persistent and annoying problem with my HTPC.

After the Win7 SP1 update I now lose audio when I pause or mute my movies. I never had this issue before, thanks MS for "fixing" the silent stream bug and breaking my audio. This weekend I going to unistall and then reinstall ATI 11.2 and my codecs to see If I can fix this issue.

Right after I unpause or unmute I lose audio. The muting and pausing causes the problem, obviously there is no sound while muted or paused.

11.2 gave me that problem prior to SP1 being installed. I rolled the HDMI driver back and it fixed it.

If your first issue is in mediacenter... The next time it happens, go into settings, tv and go into setup. Walk thru the wizard and change your resolution to the correct setting. After this it should stick. I had this issue with my new denon 4311. Make sure you do the fix while you are still in the bad resolution.
