I have been ripping my SD DVDs for a couple of years and it is finally time for me to start doing the same with my old HD DVDs and the Blu Ray DVDs that I own.

Requirements:
Read HD and Blu Ray DVD discs, (write Blu Ray would be nice but not required)
Either an internal or external drive for PC
Works with Windows 7

I remember reading a few months ago about one DVD drive that can read either a HD disc or a Blu Ray disc, but I can't remember the drive name or model. If I remember correctly you might have to use a modified firmware to rip the HD DVDs, but not sure.

I plan on ripping using AnyDVD HD. If there anything I am missing?
Thanks for your help.
Joe

LG GGC-H20L Super Multi Drive

Could also look into a Blu-Ray drive and get a Xbox 360 external HD-DVD drive (think this is what I'm going to do as I have an old 360 drive laying around).

Here are the two models (made by LG):
GGC-H20L: CD/DVD Read/Write & HD-DVD/Blu-Ray Read Only
GGW-H20L: CD/DVD/Blu-Ray Read/Write & HD-DVD Read Only

A little late to the party; your best bet to find them is Ebay.
Good Luck.

How many HD-DVDs do you have?

First reviewer basically did what you're wanting with ripping ability.

I only have about a dozen, the ones that cames with the HD DVD player when I first bought it, plus a few others. I bought it one month before the announcement that HD DVDs were going away. Perfect timing for me...

I have a GGW-H20L (or maybe a previous model if there is one since I got way back when both formats were fairly new so I'd be safe w/ which even one won), it's worked great for me. I was going to say you could probably get a HD-DVD and a BD ROM for less than a combo drive but w/ the combo w/ a burner for around $125.00 maybe not or at least not enough to offset having to have 2 drives.
