New to the forum and the htpc world. I recently canceled my satellite service. Concurrent with cutting the satellite, I bought a Roku. Little did I realize how limited in scope Roku's "channels" are. Anyway, I'm now looking to purchase an HTPC, probably better described as a media streamer pc. I have a 42" Samsung plasma (720p, circa 2006 - yeah, I know, you are all drooling over it). I want to be able to stream Netflix, Hulu, etc, etc, without the frame dropping and choppiness I've been reading about from atom/nvidia ion stuff.
I do not want to build my own. Although I believe I am capable, I live in the boonies - 50 miles from anywhere. So, if I forget to order a part, damage something, etc. It's a huge pain in the butt. For simplicities sake I want to purchase a pre-built system. The problem is, the more I read the forums, the more it seems pre-built systems are terrible.
I'd also prefer to keep it at $500 or less if feasible. Any advice? Thanks!
