Wow, just burned myself by waiting. Saw on my phone this morning that Newegg had a SanDisk Ultra SDSSDH-120G-G25 2.5" 120GB SATA II for $125. Said good through Oct 6 so I figured I had plenty of time. Went back to get it just now, and . . . .SOLD OUT. Would have been perfect for replacing the hard drive in my travel laptop.

Oh well, if there's one thing we should learn from SSDs these days -- if you see a great deal, there will be an even better one in the next week or two. The prices are falling fast.

Fry's has a CPU/Motherboard combo on sale this week.

AMD A4-3400 & Gigabyte GA-A75M-D2H for $109 after $10 Mail in Rebate.

I'm definitely interested in the Microcenter deal but am very limited in my budget. Do I buy the i5 now and the MB later, or do I get the combo at Fry's and maybe some ram at the same time? Decisions, Decisions...

That's why I decided not to bother with SSD's right now as they always sell out by the time you have the money to get one.

Sticking with the laptop drive for my new build this weekend!

Lol, odd reason to not get one. SSD to a laptop drive is a huge difference. I have an htpc that had an ssd, and I replaced that drive with a 2.5" HDD. The pc is much slower.

I guess if you don't know any better then its not so bad. But at this point you can find an ssd for a pretty good price. I don't build pc's without them anymore.

Yeah I know...its the progression of technology. I admit sometimes I am reluctant to constantly upgrade all of the time but at some point it will be inevitable. I've never seen an SSD in action and I surely have no doubt that they are miles ahead of mechanical drives as documented here in the forums. I guess once I have experienced it for myself then I can join the camp too. The problem I have is availability when it comes time to look into one; by the time I get my paycheck, the deal always ends or is 'SOLD OUT'. Yeah no doubt they have deals ever so often and as often as they have them, they sell out just as fast. I just don't always have time to hunt these deals down.

When I plan to build my i7 AV editing station the coming months I will go with an SSD for the OS, as it will save boatloads of time with programs like Adobe CS5 suite and other CPU intense software.

I understand, money is always an issue. I normally just get the best deal I can find when I am ready to buy, I hate waiting weeks just to save 10 bucks.

Hardly.

Newegg had the 64gb Samsung 470 for two full days earlier this week for $85 and it never sold out.

And the Crucial M4 is available every day from Newegg and Amazon for something like $106.

There will be an SSD in every computer I build from now on.

Not a hardware component, but a dang good deal on software I had to pass on:

Total Media Theatre 5 is normally $99.99. The Softpedia discount lowers it to $49.99... then use the Halloween coupon code for another 30% off making it only $34.99. Deal lasts until Oct 31st.

I got this from http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.ph...49&postcount=1

My ASUS E35M1-I Deluxe + Antec ISK 310-150 HTPC Project:

Use HLWFB40BOFF coupon code for 40% off instead of HALLOWEEN coupon code, and it brings the price down to $29.99.

Dead as far as I can tell. Unless someone knows of a way around it.

Yes, it's dead now, but $49.99 is still a great price.

I even tried getting smart and re-adding another $100 version of the program, which coincidentally brings back the Coupon box. Then I was able to add the coupon and get $40 off. However, once you then delete the $100 version, it automatically removes the discount and the Coupon box... Hmm, these programmers are getting too smart for us cheapskates.

The problem is that they removed the "Apply Promotion Code" box so there's no way to enter the code.

Superbiiz.com has it for $45.04 with free shipping. Just add it to your cart, then apply the coupon code SPOOKY for 15% off.

Superbiiz.com has been my goto store for cpu's & motherboards lately. I just picked up a G620 cpu for $63 shipped from there & a DH67GD board for $92.99 shipped a few weeks ago. Just look for their coupon codes on the home page.

Ended up purchasing this one: Patriot Memory PYRO 60 GB Solid State Drive

$94.99-$20 rebate.

Edit: Oops, missed that had to purchase by 9/30 and have in by 10/31. Thought had to purchase by 10/31.... should I cancel and choose a different SSD?

15% off Corsair PSUs w/ promo code SVCORSAIR11, ends 11/3
MIR varies by model

Examples:
CORSAIR CX430 $44.99 - 15% - $20 MIR = $18.24
CORSAIR CX500 $59.99 - 15% - $20 MIR = $30.99
CORSAIR CX600 $59.99 - 15% - $10 MIR = $40.99

Current Newegg Shellshocker - Mushkin Enhanced Silverline 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) 1.5v - $29.99 less $5 rebate = $24.99.

$25 for 8gb; too good to pass up. I'll use it one of these days.
