I have been hearing a lot about this box. Is this an android? I might have to purchase one of these to see what all the hype is about. I am sure Amazon has it.

It is a networked cable TV tuner (connects to a router) that uses a cablecard from the cable tv provider to send the signal to a PC. Most people use it with Windows Media Center. There is also an Android app.

So I tried a few different things with MCE buddy this weekend, just trying one file at a time to see if it would work, and I keep having "audio errors" where it will be in a continuous loop of "re-remuxing" even after 2-3 hours of trying on a single file. My "simplest" solution may just be to add more HD space - looks like you can get 3TB drives for around 100 a pop. Might see what's available closer to black Friday. When I did a WMC search for maybe 5-8 shows that either my wife or I enjoy, and picked "new and rerun" the HD homerun ends up recording 2 or 3 things at once in the evenings on occasion and somewhere around 8-10 shows per day. Maybe I should trim that back to only new episodes, but I've already collected entire seasons of sitcoms that we both love watching anytime - and those are the ones that I was hoping to reencode and archive. Perhaps I'll just archive them in their original .wtv format and call it a day.

Well I bought the top version of VideoRedo and it can edit and rencode native WTV files. Their lower versions don't so I upgraded my original when I got the Prime.
Several other users I've chatted with use it too and everyone loves it. If you can afford it I'd highly recommend checking it out. Pretty sure they have some sort of time limited free demo too, but been a while since I checked.
They are regularly updating it too and have a beta program you can use if you always want the newest version and updates.
