I'm still new to the HTPC world, but I thought this might be of interest. A new build of XBMC supports HD audio codecs (DTS-HD MA, Dolby-TrueHD) without much work at all. All you have to do is go to the settings and let it know that you have an HD-audio capable receiver. Works with MKV and M2TS files.

Here's the link

You can download it here. (Windows only)

It's not Eden, but that's not a huge deal to me. So far, at least for me, this has been the easiest way to get HD audio bitstreaming. Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come in future official releases.

Thanks, already being discussed in the XBMC sticky.

Nice to see HD Audio playback finally reach xbmc natively. Will probably at some point be integrated to the 'nightly' builds (Frodo), but unlikely to be included in Eden - which is currently in feature freeze and at beta testing stage.

I'm sure there are many people, like myself, who are interested in a solution that can easily bitstream HD audio but don't regularly read the XBMC thread. I'm definitely going to look into this!

Really can't understand why this is not in Eden. It should be a core part of the package.

Do you need a DTS-HD/DD TrueHD supported sound card to pass-through to the HD Audio supported AV Receiver?

Yes.

Great addition to xbmc. agree that it should be a part of eden.

Given that its a windows only solution, I think it is highly unlikely that it will - though you never know!

Yes. But it could be modified to work under Linux I would think. As I have my system running well I don't feel the urge to do all this again.
