It is not coincident that Microsoft also recently clarified that it won't release Office suite app for iPad after all.

To add to this, M$ believes in pens and keyboards, unlike Apple. With a dock or, as I've seen on some WP7 phones a slide-out keyboard, there's no reason there would not be a fully functional Office suite. With a dock, keyboard and mouse, it's an all-in-one when docked and a tablet when removed. I like the flexibility that provides. I can't wait for Win8 tablets.

BTW, I have to say it's so funny watching the majority of a group I would consider bleeding-edge and savvy tech people freak out over start buttons and new UI gestures .

It's funny what's missing from the Start page that's driving me nuts...

The day and time.

You have to bring up the right-side charms to get the time. I'd prefer the time to be always displayed. Anyone know if there's a setting for this or if this is just how it is?

You are right. I actually tried to lock the desktop in order to see the date and time

I'm sure there will be an easy metro app that shows date time on the app tile directly. Actually, I'd write one my self

So we are going to have a bunch of people at Starbucks using their Win8 tablets waving their arms frantically with gestures?

Can't wait to see that.

A dockable tablet with Windows is excellent. How about a tablet with a slide-out qwert keyboard? That would be event better.

I thought starbucks was apple only?

Seems like you need an apple product, a scarf, and some skinny jeans just to get a job there...

I don't do Starbucks and I don't do Apple. Both are over-priced hype.

Mfusick, you're killing me with the pics! Awesome! Oh, and the Apple water will only dissolve approved flavors of Koolaide, so don't expect to be able to stir in any store brand flavored drinks!
(For when one facepalm just isn't enough...hilarious!)

I can make great coffee all week long for what I'd spend in one day at Starbucks. Nedless to say I drink too much coffee.

I'm guessing that this would not be an opportune moment to bring up the fact that I've got a Starbuck's gold card linked to my Starbuck's app on my Android phone...and use the thing every morning. *ducking*

Oh, and I did finally install the Win8 consumer preview on my laptop today. So far I have no impression yet...I have not used it enough to develop an opinion.

Back in the 90's, Microsoft tried to force the desktop onto pda's / mobile phones. That gave us WinMo phones with a start menu and desktop controls that needed a stylus. It was a disaster.

Now they are trying the opposite - forcing a phone interface on the desktop.

I think Win8 will be a win if it gives you the go anywhere of a tablet with the usefuness of a desktop.
