Official XBMC will not contain HD audio until either an 11.1 release or the next full release of Frodo (12).

However after Eden went into feature freeze a patch was developed to enable HD audio on Windows, builds with this HD audio patch can be downloaded from the XBMC forums, with XBMC Eden final with HD audio now being available. Although these are not official builds, the patch was developed by someone who has now joined the official development team, so they are about as official you can get without being so. Check out the main support thread in the stickies.

No HD Audio Bitstreaming
No Netflix
Any way to use it as a CableCard DRM-compatible DVR?

Former Top 1000 Amazon reviewer bemoaning the loss of objective user reviews. Amazon, stop your complacency!

Check out this post for a patched version that has HD Audio Bitstreaming.

There is no official Netflix addon, but there is one that uses a web browser to play the video. It's not perfect, but it does work. As for CableCard, you can thank the cable industry for not allowing that to ever be an option. WMC is the only Windows option of which I know that is blessed by the cable overlords to access cable card signals.

I will be upgrading to Eden. One question though, I've been thinking about making the switch from my Windows 7 XBMC machine to Linux based (specifically XMBCbuntu). But I was wondering if I would still be able to play full frame-packed 3D bluray ISOs through Linux? As far as I know, I won't be able to play them through XBMC, even with this new version, but I'm wondering if I'll at least be able to play them in a similar way I do currently on my Windows box - with something like TotalMedia Theatre and the nVidia 3D drivers.

Not sure the linux version will support 3D at this point in time...

I don't even think it is supported in the windows version...

You're likely to lose HD audio bitstreaming if you go linux as well...

At the moment, I keep TMT5 solely for 3D...

I already uninstalled MPC-HC, LAV and MadVR...

I just didn't see any reason to keep them anymore...

In fact I removed them four days after installing the RC2 + HD audio patch...

The performance of XBMC is quite phenominal in my opinion...

Media browser is the next to go on my list...

As soon as I am able to figure out how to launch TMT5 from within XBMC for 3D BR

So in your opinion XBMC and MPC-HC+MadVR are equivalent in terms of PQ?

Exactly...

Mentioned in one of my previous posts that I don't see any difference between the two setups.

I am using a 59 inch plasma in the living room, and a 50 inch LED in the bedroom...

That makes two of us.

Of course you likely already knew that.

I see a lot of posts in the Windows forum (http://forum.xbmc.org/forumdisplay.php?fid=59) about bugs in Eden final compared to RC2. Has anyone here faced any issues?

On my desktop (GTX 260 GPU) playback is ok and i haven`t noticed any bugs, still waiting for my gf to leave the TV so i can mess around on my HTPC, but will probably fall asleep before that so i`ll probably get back with some feedback tomorrow

I just installed XBMC for somebody in the USA over Team Viewer today on an i5 laptop (using the Eden Final + HD audio build), the only bug i noticed was that when installing an addon , when you pressed Enter/Ok to install it it would freeze for a second, then become functional again. But didn`t test out much in terms of playback, i`ll find out tomorrow in my emails

No issues here. I am using the PVR build, but it was merged from the Eden final sources last night.

I'm currently running Eden+RC2 with the HD audio patch. Is there really any reason to upgrade to the Eden released version? Can I assume that the patch works with both versions?

Yeah, that's not quite what I meant. Neither the Windows or Linux version of XBMC supports full frame-packed 3D (as far as I know)...what I was wondering is if on a Linux box (OUTSIDE of XBMC), if there is a way to play full frame-packed 3D bluray ISO's (as we do in Windows by mounting the ISO and using TMT/PowerDVD).

How does this compare to PLEX? I have an LG 47LV5500 Smart TV. Will it work with LG's Media Center? I also have EyeConnect on my iMac. The TV uses that via the DLNA interface

Nope. The patch is really a recompiled version of XBMC with the additional code. If you want to use the release version, you have to download the newer version from the person who compiled the audio patch version before.

So basically Intel GPU is abandoned. There are several formats, even in BDs, that it can't play properly with AMD/NVIDIA. It looks like a competent developer like nevcairiel is necessary.

Yeah, I know you play only 1080p, the easiest format ever to play back.

I have others. 1080p and 720p are the vast majority though.
