One day a few days ago I restarted my htpc and when i restarted it it wouldn't start. It just sits with the circle spinning at the welcome screen after I enter my password. The are a couple things I tried. About a week before, I accidently downloaded my GPU driver from Windows update and figured id try unstalling it since I downloaded it and it messed up my screen, it was obviously something wrong because I couldn't get a picture. I started it in safe mode and put it back to the previous driver. Since then whenever I restarted my pc it pops up asking if I want to install it and I have to hit no. I just hadn't got around to uninstalling it and the day before my welcome screen problem happened I accidently hit yes on install but nothing further happened for some reason. I looked up this issue on a few different forums and a lot of the answers were gpu driver problems so with those answers and my problem I went that route. I first just tried uninstalling the problem gpu driver and using my normal driver but that didn't work so I uninstalled all NVIDIA stuff and tried downloading the most recent gpu driver but for some reason it wouldn't install so I installed the older driver I had been using wich installed fine. That also didn't fix the issue.

The only other oddity I'd been having with my htpc was about two weeks before I noticed once in a while when I logged out of xbmc for whatever reason(an error or just to use the internet) it wouldn't let me log back in. I've been very busy and hadn't had time to look for the problem so I would just restart my pc.(hence why I was restarting my htpc from above) I tried opening a movie with xbmc from file location last week after it already wouldnt let me in and it said my .dll file was missing. So after my welcome screen problem and the gpu driver issue not working I tried uninstalling xbmc to see if that would somehow fix the issue but to no avail. I havnt dug any deeper than that but before I did I thought is see if anybody had any suggestions. Thanks. Oh, one more thing is it will start in safe mode.

Things I would try which you may have already done: Scan with updated virus scanner, as well as Malewarebytes (download for free from their site), download latest driver for GPU as well as XBMC Eden 11, uninstall current GPU driver using a program that will completely wipe all of it(you may need to google for the best program to use for NVIDIA) and XBMC. Use whatever program you like best to clean your registry (I like Windows 7 Manager). Reinstall GPU driver and XBMC.
