I know it's possible on some tuners to share one tuner over a network so another HTPC can use it. Is this possible with either the Hauppauge DCR-2650 or HVR-2250?

Thanks for you help!

You can use Hauppauge Extend but it only works with their WinTV tuner app on the 2250 tuner. WinTV tuner is crap because it doesn't have an EPG.

Yea, WinTV Extend works with analog and QAM tuners, but not with cablecard tuners, as they only work with Media Center. Hauppauge has stated they are working on a solution to share the cablecard tuner over a network, but Hauppauge is very slow at putting out any updates.

You can share it to a media center extender or XBOX, if you are running Windows Media Center.

6 TV's in the house on FiOS and we only pay $4.99/month to connect them all!!! Power to the CableCard and WMC7!!!

Any new updates to this? I know it's an old thread but this is what i'm looking to do. Hate to buy to buy Digital boxes for occasional use TVs so i thought i could leverage my DCR-2650 on my HTPC in my living room to watch TV in my office or Bedroom.

Just get an extender. You can get an XBOX on ebay for under $80. It is perfect for occasional use.

What about for more than occasional use? Have you done anything with Media Portal?
I initially started setting that up for use as a backend and XBMC for a front end but there isn't a great free EPG and once i tried WMC it was pretty good and easy to setup so i stopped there. Now that i've moved to a house that requires 1 - 2 more TVs i need to expand the setup.

I've also looked at the HD HomeRun but don't want to have to give up on my DCR-2650 which isn't that old.
