I was considering one of the Mediasonic 4-bay USB 3.0 hard drive enclosures but apparently they don't support getting SMART data/status from the drives in Windows (they state in their forum that you must use a Linux Live CD to check). Are there any enclosures that support SMART data in Windows? Thanks.

That doesn't really make much sense. If the enclosure is capable then the OS should not matter. I think they didn't want to deal with support calls and because of that simply said it's not supported.

Could be - I don't know. This is what it says in the post:

S.M.A.R.T Status and info for Raid enclosure is not possible under Windows OS. No Hard drive monitor software out there will give you the S.M.A.R.T status and info.

However is you want you can check the S.M.A.R.T Status of your Raid Array. All you need to do is use a Linux livecd and boot it up on your computer
and use the disk ultility that comes with Linux. It will only give you SMART Status: Disk is Healthy or Disk is not Healthy ,it will not display detail info.

I didn't realize that its not just a drive enclosure, it is an actual raid array....in that case it depends on the manufacturer.

It looks like these guy support SMART

Well, that's a good point. I'm looking at the non-raid enclosure but since this was a sticky in the same forum where all their different enclosures are discussed I assumed it applied to all their enclosures. Further searching/reading on their forum indicates that SMART status can be obtained with their non-raid enclosures. Thanks for your help.
