Hi,

As WMC7 automatically changes refresh rate when it starts up, is there a way to edit the given display modes shown in WMC display setup? (where does MC get this information from)

Currently it only gives options for the 1080p resolution at 50hz or 60hz, is there an editable file/reg key, so that i can add 1080p 23hz to the setup list?

It would be great if this is possible rather than disabling refreshrate change completely in the registry.

Thanks,

I didn't think automatic refresh rate changing was possible in WMC?

It's not automatic as such, it changes resolution depending on what you setup in the WMC "Tasks/settings - General - windows media center setup - configure your TV or Monitor" setup page!

It has options of 50, 59.94 and 60hz for 1080i/p.

This is regardless of what you have the desktop resolution set to, WMC always overides this to it's own setting.

If you want to just manually change it, the key is in here.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVer sion\\Media Center\\Settings\\DisplayService

truth is once you add it as a favorite, you can probably change the refresh rate faster with regedit than you could with the WMC7 settings wizard

I've found a way to get 23hz and this is by first setting the desktop to 23hz in the normal display settings then running WMC and selecting the 1080p "widescreen" option (no Hz showing) in the display setup settings mentioned earlier.

If i then go to the displayservice registry key, the resolution fr is shown as (23).

So selecting 1080p widescreen, will use the desktop frame rate.
