Where exactly did you read this?? Its an ODD statement considering that every single audio signal gets converted to PCM before it is sent to your speakers, even bitstreamed DTS-MA/Dolby TrueHD...

In terms of LFE, size does matter!

ya the guy that built the pc is coming down to walk we through it. i agree that i probably didnt need the sound card to begin with but at the time i thought it would do the trick. for some reason i have it stuck in my head that if i have a high end video and sound card ill get better blu ray and mkv file playback on my tv. better than a stand alone panasonic player.

A htpc's sound will sound identical to any other Blu-ray player if they are both outputting the same signal (DTS-HD, DTS, TrueHD, DD, lpcm).

When it comes to picture quality, some htpc's require a lot of tweaking to get the picture to match the picture from a stand alone player.

I found that having my Asus HDAV made it incredibly easy to get bitstreaming everytime under WinXP, Vista, and Win7 since the card came with an oem version of TMT3.
