Ok. So, I have these four file paths that work:

F:/Media/TV
F:/Kids/TV
H:/Videos/TV
H:/Kids/TV

Inside those the shows are organized by folder and then in each show are mostly "season 1, season 2, etc.": folders. So, some folders are in episodes though. My National Geographic folder (F:/Media/TV/National Geographic/) has some shows just in there randomly because I have them from National Geographic but I'm not sure which show but they aren't part of seasons or anything. I have a Sports folder that then has files like "winbledon.2012.rafael.nadal.vs.lukas.rosol.720p.hdtv.x264-ftp.mkv" inside the foilder. Those won't show up on the TV area of XBMC. Do they have to be shows with proper season folders or is there some other way to list them in with the other shows that show up?

Thanks!

Don't make fun of me for my stupid questions!

Generally only regular TV series will be automatically imported into XBMC. When scanning it looks for a series name then the episode info in thetvdb.com. You have two options for the odd files...switch over to file mode instead of Library mode or create a custom .nfo file with the data that XBMC requires. There's a wiki explaining how to create the .nfo files.

Ok. Going crazy! Trying to write an nfo file for Wimbledon 2012... Just have one match right now but it IS NOT WORKING!!! It's driving me nuts.

It is located in H:\Sports\Wimbledon 2012\
Filename is: winbledon.2012.rafael.nadal.vs.lukas.rosol.720p.hdtv.x264-ftp.mkv

Can someone give me a basic nfo file that would be a good barebones to make this show up in XBMC? Please????? No season, no episodes, just want sports matches to show up and I think if I can get one down I can get the other nfo's at times. Any help would be loved. I did look at the wiki and still couldn't figure this out apparently.

Save yourself the headache. XBMC isn't ready for this yet.

So, no sports in XBMC? I don't understand why XBMC isn't ready?

I wouldn't do live tv or sports on xbmc unless there is some amazing scraper built in that I don't know about.

Not automatically, therefore no scraping, everything has to be done manually - which is what I think Assassin is trying to say.

I don't use manual nfo's, but if you export your current library to seperate files, this will place nfo's for TV and Movies, in the correct locations and will provide you with a correct example.of the files.

Irrespective that you don't want season and epiosdes, I think you will have to allocate them 'dummy' ones for it to work properly - see here http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=123958 post #6

I think you may also have to refresh the files from xbmc after you have added them - though again not 100% certain. Google searches normally come up with something relevant.

Just for accuracy - Its actually Wimbledon - not Winbledon

OK just for the hell of it I tried it out, using an xbmc generated nfo as a template and guess what it works.

Might want to try it the same way as those others that have worked for you - you've missed the TV element from Sports, H:\ Sports\TV\Wimbledon 2012. One thing you'll have to be careful with is that all things match exactly. Your example was never going to work as your file name was spelt Winbledom and the folder Wimbledon 2012.

First I set up my folder structure, slightly different to yours - always thought that the content (ie TV Shows) had to be immediately below the root folder and content set on that - but if it works for you the other way I wouldn't change it.

For the purposes of testing this I used my own folder structure

TV Series\Wimbledon (2012)\Season 1\wimbledon.2012.s01e01.rafael.nadal.vs.lukas.rosol.720p.hdtv.x264-ftp

Here is the TV Show nfo - which should be placed in the Wimbledon 2012 folder along with a Season 1 folder
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
<tvshow>
    <title>Wimbledon (2012)</title>
    <showtitle>Wimbledon (2012)</showtitle>
    <rating>0.000000</rating>
    <epbookmark>0.000000</epbookmark>
    <year>2012</year>
    <top250>0</top250>
    <season>-1</season>
    <episode>1</episode>
    <displayseason>-1</displayseason>
    <displayepisode>-1</displayepisode>
    <votes></votes>
    <outline></outline>
    <plot>Tennis match from Wimbledon 2012</plot>
    <tagline></tagline>
    <runtime></runtime>
    <thumb></thumb>
    <thumb type="season" season="1"></thumb>
    <thumb></thumb>
    <thumb type="season" season="-1"></thumb>
    <fanart url="http://thetvdb.com/banners/" />
    <mpaa></mpaa>
    <playcount>0</playcount>
    <lastplayed>1601-01-01</lastplayed>
</tvshow>

The video file should be placed within the Season 1 folder and an nfo file generated with the exact name. Here is an exmaple
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
<episodedetails>
    <title>Episode 1</title>
    <showtitle>Wimbledon (2012)</showtitle>
    <rating>0.000000</rating>
    <epbookmark>0.000000</epbookmark>
    <year>0</year>
    <top250>0</top250>
    <season>1</season>
    <episode>1</episode>
    <displayseason>-1</displayseason>
    <displayepisode>-1</displayepisode>
    <votes></votes>
    <outline></outline>
    <plot>Tennis match from the All England club 2012</plot>
    <tagline></tagline>
    <runtime>25</runtime>
    <mpaa></mpaa>
    <playcount>0</playcount>
    <lastplayed>2012-05-16</lastplayed>
    <id></id>
    <credits></credits>
    <director></director>
    <premiered></premiered>
    <status></status>
    <code></code>
    <aired>2012-07-06</aired>
    <studio>BBC One HD</studio>
    <trailer></trailer>
    <resume>
        <position>0.000000</position>
        <total>0.000000</total>
    </resume>
    <dateadded>2011-11-27 10:22:06</dateadded>
</episodedetails>

Obviously there are details which will have to change - aired dates, descriptions etc.

Here are some screen shots showing that it does work

338
338
338

With some care it can be achieved and also screen shots posters etc can be manually added as well, though I didn't try to add any.
Good luck.

Ok. So just pretend it has seasons and episodes and set it up that way. Sounds good. As for the nfo that is named the same as the file, do I include the file extension in the name of the nfo? So... "wimbledon.2012.s01e01.rafael.nadal.vs.lukas.rosol.720p.hdtv.x264-ftp.mkv.nfo"? or leave that off?

Thanks so much for this response. It's what I was looking for. smile.gif

Your welcome

No leave off the mkv. nfo becomes the file extension. When you save it in notepad save it as wimbledon.2012.s01e01.rafael.nadal.vs.lukas.rosol.720p.hdtv.x264-ftp.nfo

To make it more appealing you could change the Title tag in the flle nfo to something like 'Nadal vs Rosol' - bit more visually appealing than 'Episode 1'
