Hey Everyone,

I'm having trouble getting "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" to play in Media Browser. I've tried ripping it from 2 separate blu-ray discs using MakeMKV. Both rips do the exact same thing when played in MB but both work fine if I use a standalone player (VLC). Any suggestions?

Are you using Shark007 codec pack ? It is a True HD 7.1 title so make sure your settings are correct. Does it try to play then just go black screen or is there a hiccup/stutter then nothing...just sits there? Double check your setting. Make sure they are the same...if you have Win 7 64.

Using LAV Splitter

Audio: 455

Video: 473

The screen just shows the second pic of my first post, it will not play

Go thru ALL of your setting in Shark007. Like I said if your using Win 7 64...make sure Shark007 and Shark007 x64 have the same settings not just the LAV settings.

I don't use Shark 007, LAV only. Interesting note about the 7.1 though. I went through all my BR rips and found only one other 7.1 - "Tron: Legacy" it's DTS-HD MA but it plays fine in MB.

I was under the impression that you would use either Shark 007, or LAV not both. Am I wrong?

It does indeed.

I use LAV for all my library playback (Video, Audio and Splitter) but when I was having issues with live TV, an installation of Shark007 cleared things right up for me.

If I install Shark 007, should I uninstall LAV?

If you are going to give that a try, uninstall LAV first and let shark007 re-install it. That said, I think that this is not an issue that will be cleared up by shark007. Does your hardware support Dolby True HD?

On my setup I must enable "set the merit of ffdshow to normal" on the H264 tab (in Shark007) in order to get Dark of the Moon to play.

xfett, are you using LAV at all?

I think it is a ffdshow codec too.

Yes I do use LAV but like I said the only way to get Dark of the Moon to play was to change the settings.

Agreed, I had used LAV only the way your first screen indicates Dropkick, and it played this and other trueHD videos just fine. Are you sure that the receiver supports TrueHD?

If he can play DTS-HD audio he should be able to play TrueHD. I dont know of any AVRs that only encode DTS-HD.

I don't think it's a hardware issue

Core i3-2120
> GIGABYTE GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 ----(HDMI)----> Yamaha RX-A1010
(HDMI)
> Pioneer Plasma

Maybe I'll try ripping it again without the HD Audio just to see if that's the problem.

No it's not hardware, was your software setup per Assassin?

Fair enough, it doesn't hurt to ask. The problem you were having, xfett, is with FFDshow and TrueHD. Shark has acknowledged and provided a fix in his forums, but not yet updated his recommended settings. (At least not as of 7/7/12 when I last tried his settings and it broke playback of my TrueHD files) http://shark007.net/forum/Thread-MKV-with-TrueHD-won-t-play-in-MC

Okay, so I re-ripped the disc without the HD audio (DD 3/2+1 only) and it plays perfectly. I may try Shark's codec this weekend if I get some time but for now DD suits me fine.

From my Setup and usage page...
"To playback MKV's containing TrueHD audio, either select the LAV splitter on the MKV TAB or Disable LAV audio on the Audio TAB."

I continue to default the MKV splitter to Haali because the benifits outweigh the issues. (at this time)
The one major issue when using Haali to split MKV files is TrueHD support is broken.

For simple setup of my software, select the [x] SUGGESTED settings checkbox (which sets LAV to do most decoding with subtitles enabled)
Then go to the Audio TAB and select your Audio configuration from the upper right. The leftside speaker selection is automated, allow that, leave it be. This will playback almost everything except TrueHD as outlined above

Use Shark007 Codecs and retain your sanity.

Try it out, use his instructions.

Still puzzled that your LAV setup didn't work. I've used them w/o Shark's and didn't have any problems with TrueHD. Follow the WMC knowledge base guide again to make sure. Or just be happy with DD. I didn't purchase a new AVR to listen to standard DD, but it's a personal choice

I have other movies in my collection that are TrueHD that play without a problem. This is the only one currently in my collection that is 7.1. Maybe I'll stop by Best Buy today and pick up another 7.1 disc just to test the theory.

Anyone seen any good movies lately?

Dances with Wolves
3:10 to Yuma
Hugo

To name a few but I think that they're all dts-HD/MA and not Dolby TrueHD.

I am having the same problem...

Any DTS, DTS-HD and TrueHD (5.1) mkv files play perfectly. However, i used makemkv like usual to convert the movie and when i try to play it i get no video, no audio and the track length says its 523 Hours...

Just to test it i tried playing it through TMT5 and it works so i think its a Lav Splitter issue (All i use is MediaBrowser and Lav Filters to bitstream all the audio).

But i have no idea why doing the same thing with the same disc, just using DD 5.1 instead as the audio track works perfectly....

I am going to ask Nev on the Doom forums, but i have to wait the 5 day registration period.........

Anyone have any other ideas?

I will see if i can PM Nev.

I can make and play any mkv using DD, DTS, DTS+HD or TrueHD (Transformers 1 is TrueHD 5.1 and works fine, Transformers 2 is DTS-HD and works fine) but the problem comes up with Transformers 3 which is the TrueHD 7.1....

Very odd...and frustrating, but ill use the 5.1 track until i get this sorted out...any other Blu-rays that people know of that are TrueHD 7.1?? and i will see if it works/fails with that one too.

Thanks.

Friday
Megamind
Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Shrek
Shrek 2
Super 8 .....are all True Hd 7.1

Just to confirm Super 8 behaves the same as Dark of the Moon. Will only work with ffdshow for me.

True and it shouldn't matter either as this is a splitter / codec issue.

Dropkick,Have you looked at thes in Graph Studio to see where the pins are?

What version of LAV are you using?

BTW, I haven't had problems with Ghost Protocal either.
