Somewhat off topic but as many folks use laptops as HTPC it loosely applies.

Last week Target had a Gateway (Acer) laptop for $248 NE56R13u
Great deal, could not find one in stock anywhere, the “stock check” on the Target web site sucks BTW. It sports the Intel B820 (sandy bridge) clocked at 1.7GHZ with a passmark of 1623. 320GB HD, 15.6” screen, 4GB of memory. The Intel branding is Celeron for this part.

This week they run the Acer laptop for $329 V5-531-4636
This is the same laptop with the exception that the HD moved from 320GB to 500GB and the processor is downgraded! Yep, the processor is the Intel Pentium B967 which is the sandy bridge clocked at only 1.3GHZ and a pasmark score of 1246. For a 30% slower processor they run it at $80 more. The Intel branding is Pentium for this part.

So just to point out that once again we have performance inversion where the Intel branding of Celeron VS Pentium is not a good guide, nor is price a good guide, of what you are actually buying.

I have a laptop with a Celeron B820. It is pretty awesome.

However, there is a good reason why the Pentium B967 is far more expensive - Laptops using a B820 have a relatively poor battery lifetime. The Pentium B967 has a TDP value of 17 Watt. The Celeron B820 has a TDP value of 35 Watt.
