Do they have one running?

I need to build my parents a PC. Anyone know the details right now?

Some of your posts indicate that you don't know how to use the internet, and then somebody calls out OCZ for a QC issue and you flood the thread with links, reference material, and solid knowledgeable discussion. What gives? eek.gif

Oh well kidding aside, I guess your asking because not very many good deals are available right now? It would seem we all thought that $50 off cpu/mobo thing was going to last forever. It was in the ad for a long time, and no good deals seem to have come about for the freshly available Ivy i3 chips.

I haven't seen any cheaper G5xx/6xx prices than in your old "Cheapest ever HTPC" thread, and some deals have gone the other way. I saw a 60GB Agility 3 for $50, but can't recall where

lol. You have some valid and funny points.

I guess your right.

I obviously know how to use the internet. I have been looking around for some deals for a while now.

I guess what I am really hoping is someone chimes into this thread and says "MIKE- This is the best value for a CPU,motherboard right now" and helps me decide and find a good option.

It seems the microcenter deal is good on the Z77 and i5 3570 (both pretty solid options)

I was hoping I could get the same $50 bundle savings on the 2500k($159) + Z68 Asus deluxe ($99) for total about $208

That would be a badasssed deal. Wondering if anyone had luck? Or if microcenter is motivated to make a Z68 sale on the close out older models.

Built a machine with i5-2500k and Biostar TZ77A last month. The $50 off 2500k combo no longer works this month unfortunately, so next best thing is another $30 for the ivy bridge part. Anyhow, if your going to overclock on a budget, that Biostar is actually a pretty decent board. 8 phase power + the bios settings for <$100 is hard to beat. If your not going to overclock, I would go with the Gigabyte DS3H board which offers pretty good spec for the money albeit no real overclocking ability. It also happens to be probably THE best board to use for a hackintosh EVER! OSX installs onto a system based on it nearly perfectly without workarounds or hacks. Essentially as good as a native mac. Anyhow, that is a pretty cool plus as well if you have ever thought about toying around with a hackintosh build.

No over clock planned. Standard windows 7 64bit pro install.

I don't need the extra 30$ for IVY but the was I see it was with the 50$ off the 2500k is only 109$

For that price why look at an i3 ?????

Even 189 -50 for the i5 ivy 3570 is a deal for that chip at 139$

$89 after rebate and coupon code AMDfastpitch from newegg.

Not bad for mobo+CPU+8GB RAM, add a case and a drive and you'd be under $200 easy.

Good price but one thing to keep in mind is that mobo does have an HDMI connection.

Has DVI with audio, good enough with a cheap DVI-to-HDMI cable.

See thread at AT here.
