Its been a great 1 year with my HTPC built, and i am using it to its fullest potential.
I need your help in understanding a little bit of more that will help me expand the storage needs for this setup.
The HTPC i built earlier last year was a i7 2600K with 16gb ram, 128 ssd for OS and 6TB HDD. The case i used was a CW02.
The space is all filled up, and now time calls me to add additional storage.
I want to go with the Norco 4020
Reason being i burn my entire blu-ray content without ripping them, same with the DVD, hence the storage requirement keeps growing.
I was reading the media server storage guide. The only thing that i was not able to understand is... will i have to add motherboard, ram, cpu, psu as well to the Norco 4020 inspite i already have a HTPC in place which is the i7 SandyBridge?
I was under the impression that the HTPC that i already built one year back will need to be connected to rack mount chasis like the Norco 4020 with HDD's attached only and nothing else.. thus making it a storage unit? Please help me understand this.
Does the media server and HTPC go hand in hand? Or i will now have to eliminate the HTPC for the whs2011 server??
