So far, I am extremely disappointed in "cyber" Monday. I ought to have purchased on Black Friday. I was dumb. I need a 3 TB HDD and two OS SSDs, probably 64 GB to 128 GB or so. Best prices anyone? I do not care if they come from multiple sources, though I do have Amazon Prime.

I've only seen a handful of deals better than earlier-in-the-year deals, and this has been a continual trend for the largely-media-hoax that is Black Friday / Cyber Monday

As far as the 3TB Seagate, yes 89.99 is the lowest I believe it has ever been in the box. proof I've bought a 3tb external off of craigslist for that price, and I thought it was a bargain. It wasn't heavily used, so I'll probably still get decent life out of it. If you've never used them before, you can go purchase a $1.00 staples coupon for $25 of $75 purchase, and wait for their best price/GB deal to come around

If you desperately need something just eat the difference, but if you can wait better deals will trickle in through the holidays and return to full swing after the holiday season. Once slows sale in January price slashing really starts biggrin.gif

Thanks! Pretty much my experience as well. I am in no rush. Little by little, I will replace my 2 TB HDDs in my media server with 3's. I am going to be experimenting with Windows 8 from TechNet over the next months in preparation for a client's project; I want to factor SSDs into the equation. I will not buy while things are overpriced.

I never trust a MIR and will never buy based on one. Been burned way too many times.

So it isn't still? Please elaborate.

I really haven't seen anything I need this year. I'd like to get a 60" or so LED but I don't have the money for it right now and I'm not seeing anything any cheaper than it was last week or the week before, really. I will patiently wait.

Yeah I was pretty tempted by the $800 55" led sumsung at best buy, but then I realized dumping my perfectly functional 47" 1080p was just burning money. Granted it shows more blur, weighs a ton, and is really thick by todays standards, but eh.

If you have never read any power supply reviews here is some info. Seasonic is one of the highest rated brands with many companies copying their designs. Corsair makes good power supplies. I would not use a Rosewill for a anything.

I am well aware.

You are not.

Rosewill does not MFG them. They just brand and market it.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...urer,2913.html

A good read if your interested:

Also- Corsair as you mentioned does not do it's own production either. They design but do not MFG or build them.

Here is a solid review of the ROSEWILL if you want to know:

Take it apart..

And you see:

Bling bling.. biggrin.gif
I think the only thing to look out for in a PSU is the certification. And Gold is all the way to go for.
Corsiar is a Seasonic product, and apart from that, most of the companies make decent psu's. I would be interested to pickup a 750W PSU gold certified by any company thats offering it for a good deal.

Both statements are incorrect.

Efficiency rating doesn't really matter if you aren't running at at least 20% rated capacity (and really would need to be 50% to get max efficiency) which is extremely important when many/most HTPCs run at well under 50w. Its been stated and argued many times that a 80+ PSU is almost the same as Gold for HTPC purposes. If you did go with the added expense of Gold *and* were able to run at 50% rated capacity it would still take many years to recoup the added expense that usually comes with purchasing a "Gold" PSU.

Also Corsair used to be made by Seasonic but this is no longer the case. At least for their 400-430w PSUs which were popular for HTPC (I still have one).

Time for a fact check

What 80PLUS really means

Corsair CX430 built by Channel Well, not Seasonic
