Hi all,
I am trying to upgrade my 4670 video card to one that plays dts Master and Dolby TrueHD. I do not believe my 4670 cannot do that. While upgrading, I am planning to buy one that also display 3D. Does the 6670 do 3d as well as dtsMaster 7.1. I can get the 6670 1gb DDR3 for $10 less than the 6670 1gb GDDR5. Is there an advantage going GDDR5 over DDR3? What about the 2Gb 6570? Which one do i need for hometheater use? 1gb DDR3, 2Gb DDR3, 1gb GDDR5? Pricewise, they are similar- so i just try to see which card will serve me better over another. Thanks so much.

I think if you're not planning on gaming (or even for light gaming) all you need is an HD6450. I believe it does MVC\3D bluray, dts master and Dolby trueHD and damn cheap smile.gif

Really? 6450 can do 3D?
I think I am going to get either the 6670 1gb GDDR5 or 6670 2gb DDR3. Which one would you guys get? Do i want more ram or more speed for hometheater use?

6450 supports 3D. Unless you do gaming or use madVR, 6450 is enough for video playback. For HD audio bitstreaming, you need a HDMI 1.4a AVR, however (NVIDIA does not have this restriction).

I end up with the 6670 2Gb DDR3 for $40 after rebate which is just a bit more than the 6450. Thanks.

Just a heads up to any 6450 owners out there. Catalyst 12.10 and beta broke HDMI audio on my system. Works fine on cold boot up, but the sound device disappears on sleep and doesn't come back on wake. Reverting back to 12.8 solved the problem (which was quite an ordeal in itself).

I have a Nvidia card because of sleep issues with the ATI card I bought originally a couple years ago.

What's would the answer be if the OP was thinking of getting a Nvidia card?

hd7750, they are now about $75 and use almost NO power, and are going to be driver supported for a LONG time.

or a GTX 650 if you bleed green.

I thought about buying a 690 for my gaming box but settled on a 680. Kepler is memory starved so I eagerly await the 790. Besides, the 680 can max out 95% of games in existence, including 16xAF and 4 x MSAA.

I might buy 680 or 660 next year. I wonder if anyone has put 4 690s in a computer
