I have a Windows 7 HTPC with an AMD Radeon 6530D card. This card has an HDMI output that I run to one of the inputs on my 47" Sony TV.

What I have noticed is that when I leave my HTPC powered on with Windows Media Center and maybe a browser window open to a web page, but turn the TV off with its remote (say when I go to bed), when I come back in the morning and power the TV up with its remote, there is a "no connection" message that it displays and it doesn't "wake up" in any amount of time. I actually have to go unplug the HDMI cable from the PC and then plug it right back in for the HDMI connection to come back (which promptly shows me WIndows Media Center and my browser window.

Is there some sort of configuration that I have incorrectly set on my TV? I am newer to the HTPC world so I'm not sure if this is just an expected consequence or what?

This is an EDID issue. Take a look at the EDID override thread.
