I would like to cut the cord on cable/sat TV and just watch internet TV network programs using Media center as storage and extenders (Echo or Xbox) as playback devices. The main TV programming I am interested in getting is primarily from the networks ... i.e., FOX, ABC, NBC, CBS, USA, AND TBS. I know that the shows are available from their websites but I am looking for a plug in that would allow access via extenders. There was mention of a program called SECONDRUNTV in the past that looked like it would work but nothing has been written about this program for over a year and I am reluctant to purchase it if there is no support forum. Any help is appreciated.

you could use Plex and download the video channels for abc,nbc fox etc. Once downloaded it will also intergrate within the media center menu for easy access.

Fox, ABC, NBC and USA are on Hulu/Hulu +.  Some shows like from USA are on a 30 day delay.

CBS only on their own web site (although they have signed a deal with Hulu so maybe next fall they will also be on Hulu).

TBS/TNT are only on their web site and you have to have a cable sub to access.  Otherwise you'll need to wait for Netflix.

All are available on Amazon, iTunes or Vudu by paying per episode or season.

Sort of defeats the purpose.

AFAIK, Hulu does not work in extenders.

If you don't need live stuff, mostly sports or cable news, then there's other ways that are vorbotten to discuss here.

I don't need any live capabilities (although it might be nice), just want to be able to use an extender to show what is available from the internet and be able to start to watch it without having to jump through hoops.
