Quick question, there is no live tv available for MB Classic or MBTheatre right? I know through the browser you can, but I mean through the actual program.

It's under development for Theater, Android, iOS, 8.1 and Windows phone. Class, XBMB3C and Media Portal all have existing solutions.

I realize you're joking, but I imagine Media Browser settings will gradually get richer to do these kinds of things.

You can already set the parental rating of a channel as a means to hide entire channels from certain users. I think with programs it would be too cumbersome given the vast size of the guide but I imagine down the road we can get creative, e.g. block all programs from user X containing Bachelor in it's name.

I understand that the Kindle Media Browser app on the Amazon app store doesn't support Chromecast because the Kindle doesn't have Google Play Services, but if that same app is downloaded to, let's say S3 or Samsung Nexus will the Amazon app store version work with Chromecast?

One thing I would love to see in mediabrowser is the ability to generate an HTML or notepad of your media files. Like a media list.

MCM does this so you're OK, but it would be nice for others. I also use a different program for keeping a list of titles and that generates a csv file which I convert to xls and carry with me on my phone so I don't accidentally buy copies of something I already have.

Mediacentermaster takes like 6 hours just to read my bluray rips folder and HD movies folder over LAN. It's nearly as long as it takes for mb to actually scan my library upon first setting up mb server. I don't keep mediacentermaster pointed at my media server as I use it locally on a scratch disk. I don't have the patience for its level of performance over LAN on a large library. I was thinking a plugin for mb server would work better since server has already scanned all my libraries and has the info.

Reports are coming in the next server release. There will be about a dozen of then. Initially they'll be pretty basic. We'll add more features to them over time.

Mfusick and Schroinx like this.

Oh I forgot, yes Roku. We have have two Roku apps as a matter of fact, the official one, and another from a competing developer.

Mine only takes a few minutes to read all the existing metadata that resides in the movie folders and generate an HTML file.

How big is your library ? I'm talking terabytes per folder. Not just one or two terabytes. Add another digit. My TV shows is 13TB. Bluray folder is 20TB. HD movies is 10TB. I don't have the patience required to find acceptable happiness with the process. I've attempted it a few times and bailed each time after ten or so minutes of watching it scan. There must be a better solution. I want it.

If you have MCM installed on the server should be much faster. Which ia what I'm guess A9X-308 is talking about.

About 20TB, all DVD and BR rips.
Can't give you an exact number at the moment as the WS PC (4 months old) looks like it ate a mobo.

Good idea. This will allow all 18 hard drives to read at the same time, rather than read over LAN. I will try this. Thanks for the good idea.

Is everyone storing their art and meta data inside the movie folders? Or do you store it externally on an SSD?

What do you guys use for these settings?

Anyone played with or tested what is optimal performance ?

I do store it all within the folder so that I dont' have to worry about what app I'm using. But I don't do with MB, I do it manually when I first buy the movie and put it on disc, so I have greater control over what content is there (and I can see if I need to create something like backdrop if the ones at themoviedb are missing or poor).

I am using Media Browser 3 and I am noticing that I am not getting any backdrops when I select a movie, view the description, or click on play. The background is black or gray. The only backdrops I can see when I am choosing a category (i.e., HD Movies, Games, Animation). Is there a setting I am missing or didn't select?

Edit: Nevermind, the awesome folks at the Mediabrowser3 forum solved the issue.

I have a separate Vertex 2 SSD dedicated to the MB cache and IBN folder. It runs off a mobo SATA2 port.

No discernible performance difference vs when it was on the O/S SSDs (Samsung 840 in Raid 1) but night and day compared to mechanical hard drive.

AFAIK MBS does not use the locally (in media folders) stored metadata at runtime, it uses its own cache. Locally stored data is write once, read (into cache) once.

Anyone know if SSL/https for the server webclient is ever on the roadmap? It's obviously not a huge deal for just media, but it'd be nice for logins to be a little more secure.
