Click Help on the menu, then the Tech Guides button.
Open "MX-900 KP-900 CCP programming manual.pdf".
???
Profit.

There is also a "Programming in CCP.pdf" file for general programming.

Look, two guides and you don't even have to pay to view them.

Pretty good grab. If it doesn't work out for you I'm sure you could sell it for a small profit.

Make sure your MRF-350 isn't set to zero (on the bottom of the unit). Zero is the testing mode where the red light will show how much RF interference it is receiving. Set it to any other number and remember that number for when programming it into CCP. That number is also how you can run more than one MRF-350 in the same area. When adding the MRF-350 to CCP it will ask for its RF# and that is the number you set. Then for each device you set to RF control and chose which of the six IR ports to use (or select ALL).

Is it possible to get the software if you buy an mx900 off of ebay or is this only possible for you because of your friends?

Basically all of them.

Tablet.
Phone
Chromecast
Roku
Harmony from Logitech
HP USB to IR kit (with hp remote)
URC MX-900 over RF
And I set up an IR repeater system under the floor I extended with cat6 wires.

Non are perfect.

So there is no good way to control XBMC with a conventional remote?

I started messing with a Harmony 650 and a Flirc device last night and the results were ok but not great. Button presses were not always registered, some buttons would register multiple times when pressed once and quite often I would get stuck on a screen and not be able to get out w/o going to the mouse or keyboard.

If I cannot come up with a good way to control the HTPC and make it user friendly this may not work out for me.

I don't use XBMC. Not a fan really.

I think for simple the best solution I have found was the HP IR remote and USB to IR receiver (cheap on ebay). It uses standard WMC remote (which is comes with) and codes. You can replace the HP remote with a Universal remote like the Harmony or whatever.

Then I installed an IR repeater I bought from Parts Express for about $25, ran the cable under the floor. Works pretty well. If I pick up the remote in either room and point it at the screen and click, it works. That's all I really need.

The rest of the stuff I tried was mostly a waste of time. It seems cool, but in the end it's just more trouble. I like simple.

What front end are you using?

MB3 on the HTPC, Plex or MB3 on Roku, and PLEX on ipad3. Plex is nice because it works. MB3 is nice because it has the best eye candy, slickest operation and feature set IMO. I'm pretty much only on PLEX because of the ipad and because my Bro and Mom use it and share my server. They learned on PLEX first so old habbits die hard I guess.

Ok thanks.

I have Plex and MB3 both installed. As you said Plex just straight works (well at least until your craptastic expensive comcast service goes out - like last night mad.gif)).

MB3 looks good but it just doesn't work very well for me for some reason but I do like it and its interface alot more.

I still have 4 Rokus employed throughout the house so Plex gets more use (just not at the moment) than anything else but the Intel NUC I am using for an HTPC in one room I am enjoying XBMC quite a bit.

I have yet to find that "it" front end that I am 100% (hell 95%) happy with it at this point.

How'd you set them up? My in-laws use openelec-PlexHT on a g1610. They already had this in their house as their htpc, so it was easier just to share my library then have them update and add content. The total cost in their build was $50 mid-tower case w/ raidmax psu from fry's, $30AR ECS H61M, $40 G1610, $10 2GB DDR3, $25 Flirc, $15 Patriot Tab USB3.0 16GB. The ram would be double that price now I think.

In some ways, I think they really use it a lot more since they can just use their u-verse remote for everything (switching tv inputs and I also mapped all the XBMC keys to the AUX input on their remote), but the psu is a little noisier than I care for. It's hard to skim under $200 for quality mobo/case/psu. Openelec-PlexHT running just fine with 2GB ram and a g1610 does help, but I think a cheaper solution may be in order for anyone else

Mom and bro (and dad and sister in law) both had HTPCs I built them. G630 based pentium machines.

I bought each a roku 3 for Xmas gift. They have both now. Mom uses roku religiously. Roku is a great option IMO it comes with remote and it's easy to set up and use.

My goal is to avoid tech support biggrin.gif

The ROKU remote is outstanding, it works from far away, around corners, through walls or under covers. It has no lag like IR blaster set ups do either. I wish there was a remote this easy and simple for HTPC
