Hello,

I need some help. I have cable, but it requires a set top box to receive digital & HD channels. I want to be able get these channels on all my TV sets, but not rent extra cable boxes. I have computers attached to each tv set, so I would also like to be able to take advantage of Windows built in DVR instead of the cable company's.

I saw an HDHomeRun Prime device that would be perfect...But my cable company does not have CableCARDS anymore because they are switching to IPTV.

Does anyone know of a device that would work with IPTV?? If not, how about some way to be able to send the output of the cable company's set top box (HDMI) into my computer and then be able to stream that to other computers in real time? So at least I could get 1 HD channel.

Thanks.

What cable company is this? There's no known device for IPTV except for maybe a Hauppauge capture device but you still need a STB.

Supposedly, the Xbox 360 was to be an IPTV device. Isn't that what U-Verse does now, or do they overlay QAM on their fiber?

NextPVR supported IPTV (unencrypted of course) but I think it's been removed from the latest version or slated to be removed on the next. I don't have an IPTV provider so it was never something I tested.

I had Uverse for a while and it isn't QAM. You can use an Xbox as an extender but I am not sure if it can act as the primary DVR. The Uverse "app" for Xbox costs $100.
