I had an issue with my HTPC and had to replace a two cooling fans. While I was in there I rearranged swapped the PCI slots the video card and Ceton card were occupying. I then of course had to go through the setup process in WMC again.
Prior to this change I did not have any recording issues.
Now I get random partial recordings. For example Zero Hour recorded the last 33 minutes the other night. Horse Power TV has only recorded the last 12 or 17 minutes previously. These are just two examples.
Has anyone else encountered a similar problem? I have looked at the scheduled recordings (future) and do not see any conflicts. It is not a matter of the HTPC going to sleep an not waking properly as another PC in the homegroup keeps the HTPC awake.
Any suggestions? I would rather not swap the cards back is setting up the channel guide is a HUGE PITA plus I do not really think this is the issue.
I've been having the same problem. I think I got it fixed by turning off the windows firewall, and fixing my norton installation. Norton was complaining about needing activation and wasn't functioning properly. If you reinstalled everything maybe some of your firewall settings got messed up. I've only had about a day and a half of good recordings so I'm not sure if everything is fixed, but it appears to be working for now.
Valid question. I have several hundred gigs of storage available on the machine. It is just random recordings that are only partial. Something may record before or after it and record the entire show. It does not happen every time or all that often but it is common enough to be annoying.
Looks like I was having more issues than I realized. The guide would show certain shows being recorded but they were not showing in RecordedTV nor were the tuners actually tuning to those channels (discovered when 4 programs were supposed to be recording yet I was able to change channels without a warning message).
In an effort to preserve my channel line up prior to running setup again I ran MCBackup. This utility did a great job with the backup but restore was another issue. When restoring I either ended up with a doubling of the channels or no ability to update the guide data.
Looks like my issue has not been resolved. Revenge and the Walking Dead both started recording at 9:12:35 tonight and not at 9pm as they should have. This is getting rather frustrating and not helping with the WAF. I am now considering a fresh install of Windows 7 but what a PITA.
I have decided that I have wasted enough time trying to fix this issue. I am going to reformat the HDD and do a completely fresh install from the ground up. I am hoping this goes smoother than expected.
