I've lurked here for a while, but now I have a legitimate question I'm having a problem with and this forum seems like it has a lot of knowledgeable folks and few trolls.
So to set this up, I'm building a multi-purpose HTPC to serve three purposes. Primarily it is to be an HTPC. I also render 3D animations/renderings, so it's to be used as a render node on occasion. Lastly, I'd like to do a bit of gaming on it. I use an xbox now, but I'd like to have the capability to run games at reasonably high quality without issues.
So my question is this: What video card should I get that will be quiet, yet powerful enough to run games (BF3, Skyrim, etc) and possibly handle 3D BR movies if I go that route?
These are the two video cards I'm looking at now that fall close to my $200 budget, but I am wide open to other suggestions that keep in mind: Noise, Performance, and CostGigabyte GTX 560 Ti 1GBHIS IceQ X Radeon HD 7850 2GB
I'm used to workstation graphics cards, so I'm not familiar with the plethora of gaming cards out there. I've always used Nvidia, but I'm not opposed to ATI/AMD if it's obviously a better choice. From AnandTech comparisons,
At some point, I may have to look at the power consumption as well. I've got a Seasonic 750W power supply feeding an AMD FX-8350 (125W) and 32GB Corsair Vengeance RAM. Both of the video carsd I'm looking at require at least 500W.
I have a ton of other questions, but I'll save those for later
Thanks so much for any help you can offer
