Hello Forum.I am not new to XBMC as I have been using a ATV2 for the last year with mixed results. It has been good but the ocassional buffering has me looking for another option.I have found a nMedia PC htpc-6000b for sale.It is running windows XP with 2G of ram.the board has a dual core processor and the seller tells me that it also has dual wireless cards installed .This is all I know about it at this time. What questions should I ask the buyer and am I right in assuming that this will be far better than the ATV?Any help and suggestions would be appreciated

Could be anything inside.

We need to know the specific parts and price to offer any advice.

XP and 2GB of RAM - something tells me the dual core processor is obsolete. Still, for the right price this could be turned into NAS or something.

OK I just got home from checking it out.

It has
an IBM thinkCentre E50 41D1793 socket LGA 775 DDR2mother board L1915F
160 GB Seagate harddrive
2 matched PC2 8500 1G sticks
Dual wireless card

I am to understand that this board is upgradeable and that I could use an adapter for the HDMI output for the time being until I could find a good Sound and Video card.(although I was told I may likely be happy with the resolution of the motherboard)

Found this at a pawn shop and they are asking $249.00 for it.Does this sound unreasonable for this system?Forgot to mention they are including a wirless keyboard and mouse and a computer speaker set.

Its not worth half that. Just look what you can get on Newegg for a budget machine (before even considering refurbs):

- AMD Dual Core E-350 1.6GHz
- 4GB DDR3 1333
- 320GB
- AMD Radeon HD 6310 GFX
- Gigabit ethernet
- KB + mouse
- Windows 7 Starter
- 1yr Warranty

$239 shipped

Awfully outdated, manufactured in 2004. Stay away.

Thanks for the input.I figured the componants were older but didnt know if I could get by with them for a while until I could slowly build a better one.I still may try to make a deal with them just for the case.I know they are about 140 shipped new. What would be a fair price just to aquire the case.I am sure I could resell at least the RAM for a few bucks as well

nMEDIAPC HTPC 6000B (brand new) is ~$90 shipped. It's pretty big (7 full-height expansion slots, 6 HDD bays).
