I've been looking for a cheap sound card to replace onboard sound.

My budget is between 20$ and 40$. Some available options are the Diamond cards and the Asus Xonar DG.

I need something with a variable crossover and subwoofer channel lowpass to send frequencies below 50hz or so to a subwoofer.

The subwoofer is diy and won't include a built in low pass filter so it is very important that the lfe channel be relatively free of mid bass content.

Thanks in advance smile.gif

Anything "pass thru" like DTS off a DVD isn't processed by the card, its done by the AVR. Analog outs get processed by the card, but details like subwoofer crossover and from which channels may be hard to find.

Those sorts of choices and settings are often part of the driver or decoder software. I know for example that AC3 Filter can be used to remap channels and set levels.

xonar dg has flexbass in the driver that does what you want i think. It goes down to 50hz.

AC3 filter can be assigned to any audio, as can FFDShow (which also has audio filters) iirc.
